Meet Lane Tunstall of Board + Brie in North Fort Worth and Roanoke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lane Tunstall.

Lane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always loved good quality food and especially arranging it. I went to a party a few years ago where the hostess had a gorgeous charcuterie board and I decided to up my charcuterie board game. I began making charcuterie boards at home the past few years for my family and friends. When my youngest child went to Kindergarten last Fall, I decided to create some boards for the Holidays as a side business. Then I discovered grazing tables which quickly turned into booking Christmas parties and 9 foot grazing tables for weddings and events. I also have a teaching background, which led me to start teaching DIY Charcuterie Board classes at local venues. I love the fact that something I have created will be a topic of conversation for my clients to share with their family and their friends for special life moments. I’ve had husbands surprise their wives with my boards and out of state clients message me to gift a box to their loved one in DFW. It’s truly an honor and I can’t wait to see where my business takes me this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a fun road, but there have been some challenges. For instance, when an item I put on board is out of stock in stores, especially during the Holiday season. Sometimes I run all over DFW to find a special fruit-It was cranberries the week before Christmas! My first wedding I did a grazing table for was also very nerve-wracking. A bride’s wedding day is so very special and I want my table to be perfect for her and her guests. Weddings are so much fun and I’ve loved being to be apart of the amazing wedding industry in DFW. I also have three fun and active boys, so balancing Mom’s life and my business has its challenges. Some days, I give more to my business and some days more to my family, but I want my boys to see what I’m doing and know that it’s possible to turn their passion into a business if they so choose to someday.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Board + Brie is a charcuterie board and grazing table company serving the North Fort Worth/Roanoke area and delivering throughout DFW. I create charcuterie and grazing spreads for parties, events, or only a wine and cheese date night or girls night in. I am passionate about every board, box, or table I create and everything is fully customizable for my client’s food preferences. I am most proud of making food beautiful for starting conversations for my clients. I also love hearing my clients stories behind the charcuterie boards-The husband who surprises his wife, the bride whose face lights up when she sees her wedding grazing table, the sister who has me deliver a box to her sister during a trying time in their family, the wife who surprises her husband during his military leave, and the amazing company Christmas parties I did in December -I am so honored to put a smile on someone’s face when they see my boxes, boards, or tables.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I truly care about people and every box, board, or table I create. I make sure that my clients do not have cheese they dislike and, at the same time, get that cheese that they love. I love a challenge and if a client has an idea for a table or board, I make sure their vision comes to fruition. Last but not least, I am a foodie who loves the presentation of food. Life is simply better when we leisurely graze on wonderful foods with our favorite people.
