Hi LaPorcha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got to where I am at today, because I decided to explore/express my artistic skills in a different way.
I’ve always been able to draw or paint and make the simplest things into something so good.
While being a stay at home mom/wife, I was intrigued to bake more & had a thought about how I could put both together, my artistic skills and baking and that’s how everything came about.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been rough, but I’ve had a lot of learning to do. When it came to learning different recipes & etc . Baking is actually therapeutic for me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a homebaker, I specialize in custom cakes, party treats, cookies and realistic cakes.
At this moment I’m mostly known for my custom cakes.
I’m mostly proud of not giving up & I feel like what sets me apart is using my business to grow in different ways.
I’m currently in school to be a pastry chef & also I put on cake decorating events to help others.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking has helped me a lot, I learned a lot from bakers that has been doing this for years and also learned a lot about running my business and getting it out there more.
