Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry North.
Larry, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I opened my 1st club in the prestigious Highland Park Village in 1989 at age 27. I opened the club with less than 20k borrowed from friends and family. The day I opened I had less than 50.00 in the bank. 29 years later I’ve opened and sold many clubs, written 3 best selling books, 30-year radio show, global infomercial, restaurant, speaking tours and hundreds of television appearances. The best part is there is so much more to accomplish
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve been at times managing chaos, bad actors occasionally infiltrated my organization, bad economy’s, tornados, floods, hurricanes, divorce, a few lawsuits. It’s all par for the course. One has to have thick skin, persistence and perseverance. Show up early, leave late and figure it out.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Larry North Fitness – what should we know?
I would be considered a Dallas icon in the Fitness industry. I have a resume that I’m proud of. However, I’m rather diversified in private equity, investments, relationships and much more.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
As stated earlier persistence & perseverance. However, I had a rough upbringing and never allowed LACK of anything prevent me from achieving my dreams and goals. Lack of money, lack of a good upbringing, lack of athleticism, lack of an expensive education, etc…
