Meet Latesha Wallace of RiJoyce T&B Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latesha Wallace.

Hi Latesha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I like to say I took the scenic route in my career, but one thing that has been consistent regardless of where I am in life is taxes. At 16 years old, I was filing my taxes using pencil and paper. This quickly branched into me preparing taxes for family and friends. It was fun and easy, especially considering I love numbers, learning and quite frankly, math is my happy place.

College was not the traditional experience for me. I was working full-time, attending school, and taking care of my family. Being a mother of three girls is motivation within itself. There is a fire inside you that pushes you to do better, be better, be the example for those little people who are looking up to you. Every step in my life has been guided by personal goals; honestly, my business is no different. One of my major goals in life has always been to provide for my family whilst creating generational wealth.

Working in accounting for 15 years has afforded me many opportunities. Through hard work and perseverance, my career has exceled to new heights, but I am a person who constantly seeks new challenges. I am extremely analytical by nature. I love educating myself and others, so it was a natural transition for me to move into entrepreneurship.

In 2017, I decided to officially branch out, forming the business RiJoyce Tax & Business Solutions. The LLC was formed in 2020, and we have been nonstop since then. My business, better yet my youngest baby is centered around educating the masses on not only taxes but business and finance. My goal is to truly be a resource for the community. It is our dream to provide bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation, and tax planning services to individuals as well as businesses. We want to partner with entrepreneurs to help them better understand the financial side of their business. We have a strong desire to help others ensure success through preparation and planning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like every road worth traveling, there has been some bumps but nothing too difficult. The struggles experienced have mainly been internal or better yet, self-inflicted. Being an introvert, there is often an internal battle that hinders me and my forward progression, which is why the business is not where I truly want it to be. I remind myself every day I am capable. I have the ability to open up and put myself out there. This business is much bigger than me. It is important to my family. For them, I will climb the mountain to ensure my company’s success.

As you know, we’re big fans of RiJoyce T&B Solutions LLC dba RiJoyce Tax. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
RiJoyce T&B Solutions LLC is a family business which prides itself on providing outstanding customer service. We are much more than a tax preparation business. We are a tax and business solutions company. What does that mean? It means we prepare taxes during tax season; however, we also partner with business owners and other clients to provide services such as tax planning, bookkeeping, accounting, and, eventually payroll services. We work to take the stress off our clients so they can focus on their business. Through these other offerings, RiJoyce T&B Solutions saves its clients money. It is all about the right partnership and education.

Actively working as a Director of Accounting in Corporate America adds value to my company. I have a wealth of knowledge not only in accounting but in various aspects of business that helps me better understand the needs of our customers. The experience I have gained throughout my professional journey has positioned me to be a great resource for my business and others. I can give different perspectives on things from the formation of your company to setting up financial statements, vendor accounts, payroll processing, and so much more. I genuinely work to be provide my clients with the best overall experience.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be doing bellringers in elementary school. I know this sounds so weird but having those brain teasers at the beginning of class made me sit, think and prepare myself to receive the lesson for the day. It really was the brain teasers that challenged my way of thinking and kept me on my toes. I remember spending my summers working on packets of brain teasers my teacher would give me. I would work on them every opportunity I had, in addition to reading books on top of books on top of books and working crossword puzzles. I have always liked to be challenged, to educate myself, and to stay busy.
