Today we’d like to introduce you to Latoya Moppins.
Through the life changes of Latoya came Adversity at its finest. Latoya became homeless as a young adult leaving her to use survival tactics to stay alive bouncing around from place to place and family members taking her in and putting her out because she was pregnant, saying that she was a bad influence because of her pregnancy and that she wouldn’t be nothing but the typical statistic.
LaToya found her resting nest in Pleasant Grove, TX after being bounced around for years. Two families In Particular Stand out in her life that made a world of difference (SMITH & JONES FAMILY) and thanks to them she is forever grateful. LaToya received her G.E.D and furthered her Education at El Centro College & Has Her Medical Assistant License where she worked to make a living for her kids and getting on her feet for years. She says her greatest accomplishments in life are her Kids and her business (Glorious Gherkins). LaToya initially started Glorious Gherkins out of her very first business called Smoke Signals (end of 2008) that’s when the magic happened and her new wave and path begun. Her son Eric brought pickles to the shop they sold out they wanted more and more until she had to produce a product that she never thought would be for everyone just something that was for her and her children. Knowing nothing about becoming a business owner and people telling her Smoke signals wouldn’t work but it did in fact it birthed Glorious Gherkins & Angels With Open Arms Non-Profit Organization. Since LaToya opened up Smoke Signals on a Dare with a budget of $5000 and the shop lasted 3 years she closed down and fully started working on Glorious Gherkins.
In 2010, she opened the Retail store in the same spot where it all began on the same day as she started smoke signals and the same day she closed smoke signals she said February is Customer Appreciation Month with a smile. 2015 she was asked to be a vendor for the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards in Atlanta, Ga and to her surprise They Put her right where she belong Celebrity Row with all the other Celebrities and got everyone Gherkinized. 2017 after going thru many trials and tribulations LaToya Got the biggest call of her Life so she thought WFAA Channel 8 News as they said I quote she beat the retail Giant (WALMART) to the Fruit Punch. Now you can catch the clip on Google, YouTube, Twitter & All Social Media Sites.
Latoya Says she represents for all Woman or Anyone who was told they couldn’t, Shouldn’t or wouldn’t be anything more than what society labeled them. She wants the world to know that she started her dream with $50 and a push from her kids that’s forever priceless. Living your Dream will be hard work but you have to want it like it’s your last breath. She put everything that she had into Glorious Gherkins and her Determination made it so worthwhile. So to anyone one out there stay humble stay true to you and do Everything Glorious.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
You have to know I’m laughing. No, but I will say it’s been worth Everything Tho. Day to Day I have some big challenges and small ones the Biggest Challenge thus far was going from hustling my pickles out of my truck and being a legit business and running Day to Day Operations.

Glorious Gherkins is Gourmet Exotic Flavored pickle Company that specializing in Changing people’s taste buds with over 400 plus flavors that we rotate weekly for now! I’m know for all the different flavors such as Garlic Chicken, Party Adult Pickles basically having Sweet, Savory, fruity, Liquor Gourmet Pickles. What set me apart is that I have distinctful flavors that are Tongue Teasing and Palate Pleasing, No Kool Aid Everything is GOURMET!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I think we will just keep it simple for now but you never with Glorious Gherkins lol. We are planning a Second location in the near future.
