Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Hernandez and Alexis Garcia.
Laura and Alexis, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Tres Leches started as a way for us to express ourselves creatively. Both of us had just graduated from architecture school and were not having much luck finding ourselves in our field. We were juggling a lot when we first started and we’re barely dipping our feet into the world that is small businesses. We worked hard to get to where we are today, We did our research we started designing a lot more. At first, we had our basic shapes then we started getting much more intricate. We started taking ideas from our everyday lives and from what we learned in our field. We know there is a lot more for us to learn and are very excited about our future.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has definitely not. Something that we realized when starting a small business is that your personal life really affects how well you can do. We struggle a lot with time. Both of us work as waitresses, Alexis is currently going to graduate school while I (Laura) am working at an architecture firm. We’ve just run into our fair share of life issues.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Currently, we make earnings out of acrylic, we also produce unique graphics. We are mainly known for our earrings. We are very proud of our designs and how often we design. There are some basic earrings that we have but recently we have designed some very distinct earrings. We like to think that what sets us apart from other makers is the materials and colors we use.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We currently live in San Antonio so do not know much about the small business scene in Dallas.
