Meet Laura Wimberly of The Texas Hill Country

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Wimberly

Hi Laura, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was raised in what some might call, the business of people; I am a pastor’s kid. I have watched my parents spend countless hours helping others. I think it was inevitable I would end up having a career of my own that involved helping people in some way.

Over the last decade, I’ve been digging deep into finding what my purpose is. I have always served in my church and eventually got a great job in human resources. I recently began considering hosting a podcast. I felt I could help so many people this way. I’m excited to have launched, Questions Podcast, in July 2024.

I believe every person has been given unique talents and gifts and was put on this earth for a specific reason. If I can help even a few people discover their purpose, whether through my podcast or in my daily life, then I’m doing my part.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? No! But I live with the perspective that whatever I may be facing, there’s always someone who’s had it harder than me. I have lived a blessed life. Growing up in a ministry family, however, it can be very lonely. You lose a lot of friends. It’s also easy to lose yourself as an individual. I did. As I was becoming an adult, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I was talented in some areas, but I lacked vision for the future. In short, I had no idea who I was. I think this is a worldwide epidemic: lack of identity. So many people don’t know who they are and stay in a constant state of comparison. I’m happy to say I did find my identity and I found it through my faith in Jesus Christ. He also became my best friend. I’m thankful that through Him I now know what my purpose is. There’s so much peace in that. One of the beautiful things about living a life for Jesus is that your purpose in life and the ways to serve people is never ending. That is so exciting to me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On my podcast, I interview people with inspiring stories. Those from all walks of life working the 9-5 job, the hustling entrepreneurs, the recovering addicts, the single mothers and fathers, and my fellow ministry kids. I know their stories will help so many people! Don’t get me wrong, it will be a dream come true if one day I get to interview some big-name guests so many of us know and love. Stay tuned.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
It always helps me to remember that it’s not about being perfect. Just don’t quit. I believe it will be hard for me to fail if I remain consistent and humble.
