Meet Lauren Gonzalez of LG & Co. in Highland Park and Preston Hollow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Gonzalez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always knew I wanted to be apart of the world of fashion and beauty. I was drawn to it as a young girl. At the age of 16, my middle sister asked me to fix her haircut. I grabbed kitchen scissors and got to work. At that moment, I realized I had a vision for what I knew her hair should look like and thankfully my hands followed. She loved her cut and I knew I had found what I would do with my life. I believe so deeply in the power of a woman who walks confidently in the beauty of who she is. I wanted to be able to be apart of crafting that experience for women, while also finding every opportunity during a service to speak life and encouragement into her. I’m blown away by the incredible women I encounter on a daily basis and am so honored to do what I love for a living.

Has it been a smooth road?
I truly believe that being a hairstylist is part of my calling on this earth and because of that reality, the road has been smooth in so many ways. The beauty industry can be prone to gossip, looking out for yourself to get ahead and comparison. I knew that as I stepped into this industry, I wanted to do my part to pave a different way. Within our salon space, unity, encouragement, and support of each are fought for and protected at all cost. That road has been hard. It has meant going against the culture of our industry. The price has been high at different times along the journey but has always been worth it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the LG & Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
I am so proud of LG & Co. and what it stands for. Our motto is “You’re not her, you’re YOU!” Everything about our studio salon space reflects that message. We want every woman to walk in and instantly feel safe and at peace. We specialize in haircuts, color, keratin straighteners and tape in extensions. Our clients are mothers, wives, daughters, friends, employees, entrepreneurs, travelers, and dreamers. We provide services that have a long wear time so that these women can be free to feel beautiful for the long haul as they juggle their busy lives. We also believe in using as many natural products as possible and washing your hair minimally. Beautiful hair doesn’t have to take hours every day to accomplish and we are here to empower women with the tools needed to know this reality for themselves.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry has really tapped into effortless hair, lived in hair and zero maintenance color. I think women have felt so empowered and so beautiful knowing this can be their reality. I continue to see the trend moving in that direction. I have been encouraged to encounter fellow industry leaders as well my own assistant, Marianne, who is committed to paving the way with kindness, support, and encouragement. I believe the biggest shift is going to take place in this arena of our industry.
