Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Littenberg.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Leah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been fascinated with real estate. Growing up, my mom owned a very successful architect/interior design firm and my dad is an economist so I feel like I got the perfect mix of them and through real estate, I have been able to combine my love for homes and my love for numbers.
After graduating from TCU, I pursued a career working in Human Resources and recruiting- while I enjoyed that role, something was missing. It wasn’t until I bought my first home that I realized how much I really wanted to switch gears and get into real estate full time. After buying, renovating and selling a few homes of my own, I finally pulled the trigger, pursued my dream and got into real estate!
Helping someone buy a home is such a rewarding experience. I take my role very seriously and ensure that my clients are protected throughout the process. It’s an emotional experience and an exciting one, but if you don’t have the right advisor guiding you along the way, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. I take pride in knowing that my buyers are able to find a home they love, all while being taken care of along the way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is not for the faint of heart- the startup phase can be very tough and exhausting- both physically and emotionally. It took about a year before I really felt like I had my “groove” and was in a good spot in my business.
You have to work hard and keep at it everyday. Some days I would doubt myself and not be as motivated, but I had to tell myself to keep going. I am so glad that I did. 95% of people who get their real estate license don’t renew their license after their first year- to me, I think that’s really sad. If you want to be a business owner, you have to be in it for the long haul. It’s not an easy career- the hours are demanding, you have to give up some of your usual weekend and weeknight free time and make some sacrifices to be successful.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about being a Home Buyer Specialist with the Todd Tramonte Home Selling Team – what should we know?
I am a home buyer specialist on the Todd Tramonte Home Selling Team. We are a unique brokerage that works all over the DFW metroplex. I work exclusively with buyers on the Fort Worth side.
We are unique in that each agent and person on our team specializes- I only work with buyers, we have other agents who only work with sellers. That way, all of our clients are working with an expert during their transaction, vs working with your typical Realtor who is trying to be a jack of all trades and working with anyone and everyone. We also have an internal support team who helps on the backend. I love that we get to specialize – I feel like I am so much more knowledgeable and equipped for my clients this way.
We have recently been endorsed by a lot of big players in the DFW area and real estate industry, most notably by Barbara Corcoran (from SharkTank). She absolutely loves our business model and how we care for our clients in such a unique way. It has been really fun to get to work with her and see how people are truly understanding the unique way in which we do things.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My broker, Todd Tramonte, absolutely deserves credit. He is the leader of all of this magic so without him, none of this would happen. Also, our team leader, Ian Daniels, has been essential in my success. He’s someone I can always go to and count on to be there when I need a pep talk or just to get things off my chest. I would definitely recommend having a strong support system when building a business- it’s impossible to do it alone!
Most importantly, my husband, Alan, has been my biggest supporter. I would not be where I am today without him. He constantly encourages me, picks me up when I’m down, has made sacrifices in his own life and our marriage to be there for me and my business. He also recently started his own business which is a great counterpart to mine. He started Fine Point Homes, a kitchen and bath remodeling company. It has been so fun to work together and be able to encourage each other in the building of our businesses.
We are currently pregnant with our first baby- it’s a girl! We know that adding a little one is such a blessing and we are so excited, but we also know that it’s going to be challenging to start our family while building two businesses. There’s truly no one else I’d rather ride this crazy ride with than him!
