Meet Lena and Clay Campbell of Innovative Beauty Products in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lena and Clay Campbell.

Lena and Clay, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Both Clay and I started our careers in the beauty industry working for Revlon in New York City. This is where we met and married. From there we moved to Dallas and had various jobs within the beauty industry. Clay always had the desire to own his own company so in 2004 we had the opportunity to purchase the Godefroy brand. It took many long, hard days and nights before we were able to really feel the success of the company. Currently, we are located in 23 countries. We enjoy traveling to these countries, meeting our distributors and learning about the various cultures and how we can help women and men feel their best.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle was in the beginning finding the capital to invest in the company so it can grow. We used most of our personal funds long with a bank loan and many credit cards to our advantage. It was stressful to see credit card statements as high as they were. Thankfully, they are all paid off and it worked out for the best.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Innovative Beauty Products – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our company started by focusing on products for eyelashes and eyebrows. We have products that will permanently tint eyebrows (cover gray or use as a pop of color instead of using daily pencils and powders), tint eyelashes (no more mascara), curl and grow eyelashes. We recently launched a root touch up product that is distributed in a national drugstore chain (Rite Aid). We are also getting into the men’s category of grooming products for beards and mustaches. The brand Godefroy started in the professional salon industry using the products as a service in salons and spas. It is known as a brand leader in eyelashes and eyebrows. We took this success and applied it for the at-home consumer.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We want Godefroy to become a global brand leader. To be successful in the beauty industry you need to work with trends and predict what the customer needs and be able to produce good, quality products to meet those needs quickly before the competition does. Plans need to stay flexible.
