Today we’d like to introduce you to Leon Davis Jr.
Leon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since an early age, I had always wanted to be my own boss. Growing up, I was naturally drawn to my local barbershops. Seeing how the barber shop atmosphere often felt like a second home to customers it showed me the power of a barber.
I first enrolled into Texas Barber College in 2008, but due to the economical effects of the Great Recession, I had to disenroll from school. I still remember that moment like yesterday I was crushed. But through my strong faith and support from my family, I was able to overcome the temporary disappointment.
In 2009, I enlisted into the U.S. Navy mainly for the educational benefits I would receive in return for standing the watch of freedom for my country. With this new opportunity, I took my grooming skills with me. I literally keep my clippers in hand or nearby on a daily basis.
When I wasn’t working, I was cutting hair somewhere. I’ve cut hair on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Indi- an Ocean. I’m just realizing I have cut hair from Texas to Dubai. It’s safe to say I never gave up on my dream of becoming a barber. After Serving nine years in the navy, I was ready to transition to my next career as an Entrepreneur.
During this transition period, I re-enrolled into Texas Barber College. I was able to focus on completing the program without the added stress of student loans. My past experiences prepared me and left me beyond motivated to reach my destiny as a barber.
One of the tools I used to stay focused was a vision board, and I looked at it every day. I was adding another chapter to my life and wanted to help others as well so I came up with the Barber School Dropout Organization.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth sailing by far. I really appreciate the issues I had to endure it made me a better barber, motivator and better businessman. Your ability to adapt and overcome your obstacles is the only way you make it to your dreams.
Barber School Dropout Grooming – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are skilled in hair cutting, trimming, shaping and coloring, as well as all other grooming techniques typically utilized whether it’s traditional straight razor shaving or modern shaving we get the job done right. We provide razor edge line ups and hot towels after each haircut.
Our barbershop atmosphere is enjoyable very laid back, which is a great alternative to high-stress business environments. If you are to busy to come by and see us, we provide mobile grooming services as well.
I think the thing that sets us apart for other establishments is everyone gets the red carpet treatment. We pride ourselves on serving the working man and woman from veterans to the neighborhood crew.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Honestly, customer satisfaction number one. Nothing is better than happy clientele after providing services.
Secondly, I would say my contribution to society by giving back to my community and inspiring others.
Last but not least am I continuing to grow personally and professionally each day. You have to be positive and know your goals. I pride myself on learning from my mistakes.
