Meet Leon Shannon of Mind & Soul Music

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leon Shannon.

Leon started putting lyrics together in high school rapping on his own landline answering machine, people would literally call him just to listen to him spit his quick freestyle. He begin taking it much more serious when he found out he could make longer songs on his computer. he did his first production mixtape of a Hewlett Packard desktop with a small computer mic he eventually sold copy’s at school and racked in 300$ in a week and that’s when he knew he had something special and continued to pursue his rap career.

Has it been a smooth road?
In 2012, Leon Shannon was diagnosed with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. From that time Shannon was struggling to feel confident in himself. The label had to explain and motivate to him that it will not be the way he walks or stands, but the people are going to love him for the music and lyrics he gives to the people.

Mind and soul music is an independent music label and a division of Soular Ventures Arts & Entertainment, LLC and was established in 2012. We specialize in artist development and branding by creating unique music and film production that appeal to the mass public by creating our work with the intentions to elevate, enlighten and motivate the “Mind & Souls” of our viewers and listeners to a higher conscious and purpose, hence our motto “Lyrics for the Mind, Rhythm for the Soul”.

We have established ourselves to be a fully independent Music Label that provides complete services for the artist on the label to include music and film productions, web designing, social media managing, live show productions, public relations, show booking, publishing and music copyrights. What separates us from other labels is that we give the artist the freedom to determine which route we take with their careers. Many labels determine what happens with or without the artist consent, but here at M&S Music, we allow the artist to part takes in daily operations.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the fact that our city has its own culture and diversity that creates a place that allows an individual to be who they truly are.

What hurts the city is the lack and willing to support one another, as far as small businesses and supporting local music and arts. If only leaders in the city can join forces to set the example on how things can prosper for everyone if we all worked together to build each other up.
