Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesa Rayford.
Lesa, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
This journey of fitness started as far back as I can remember. Growing up in a small town I spent most of my summer running up and down the street, playing kickball and riding my bike. I always enjoy running and empowering people at an early age. I was active in high school with organizations and sports. This continued through college and into my professional career. While I was successful and enjoyed corporate America, things just never felt right and I couldn’t find my footing or are a true passion. It wasn’t until the passing of my father that things got real and I realized life is short and precious. More importantly, I had found my WHY or PASSION. The only thing I knew I loved health and fitness and encouraging others and if I had to do anything for FREE it would be fitness. So, I started to pursue my training certification for three times, but this time I was committed to seeing it through. After taking my test for the 3rd time and almost giving up I finally passed! It was official and I was on my way. I was blessed to meet an amazing recruiter with Camp Gladiator and was invited to come and try a workout on a Saturday morning at Tietze Park and the rest is history. From that very cold day on January 23, 2016 things fell into place – I had finally found my purpose and passion in life – to help change and transform life doing what I love empowering those around me to be the BEST possible version of themselves. You can catch me RAINING or SHINING training at Frisco Shawnee Trail Sports Complex on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at 6:00 am & 4:30 pm.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been easy. I attempted three times to start fitness my career and each time discouragement and uncertainty weighted in and if this was really for me! I’ve learned since then anything worth doing doesn’t come easy – you have to be diligent and consistent. You have to learn to trust the process and believe that all things are working out for your good and that your footsteps are ordered.
Please tell us about your business.
We are an outdoor boot camp that focuses on a four week cycle of endurance, strength and agility along with some high intensity interval training. We use various kinds of equipment including dumbbells, resistance bands, and sand bells. I am no for being a little sweet and salty – just the right about of push and balance to bring about the client’s desired goal. What sets me apart from others is NO boot camp experience is the same, we are always mixing things up and keep it fresh and intense while having lots of fun! You will always get 60 minutes of amazing every time to come to camp.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
At this point, everything that happened needs to happen and if I changed anything I might not be here! I couldn’t be doing this interview and I might not be changing the lives I get to change daily!!! I learned from very wise women – not to trade anything for your journey. I needed every challenge, every misstep, every mountain top and every valley experience to be who God called me to me!
