Meet Lexi Bader of Secret Stash in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Bader.

Lexi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Secret Stash officially launched in May 2019. I always knew I was going to own my own business and that it would be centered around fashion, but I didn’t know exactly how it would come to life. When I was in college, I started a blog, The Secret Stash, but it fizzled out because I was taking 23 credit hours at the time and knew I couldn’t devote the necessary time to dedicate to the blog.

Shortly after graduation, I was sitting at a restaurant in Lubbock with my mom having the typical “What’s next?” conversation so I started writing down some fresh ideas for Secret Stash on a napkin. At first, I thought it was going to be a small online boutique but I realized it’s a super crowded space and I didn’t know what my differentiating factor would be. Fast forward a year, and after having two jobs after college that didn’t work out I realized that I didn’t want to just sell clothes, I wanted to help customers be inspired and that’s when I realized I should make Secret Stash a personal styling website where I could help customers achieve their best self by simply putting together outfits for them. Today I visually put outfits together through photoshop so people can see the complete look. It’s great!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, I feel like when you start your own business you have this image in your head and it gets hard when things aren’t going the way you’ve planned for. But I believe you just have to keep fighting for what you believe in and never give up on yourself because eventually, you will get there.

I’m still learning what fits best for my business, but I started Secret Stash from scratch on my own. It is something I have been passionate about from the start and thank god for Google, YouTube, and friends and family. These resources helped me build my website and kept supporting me throughout the process. It’s still a bumpy road for me when it comes to figuring out what’s next for Secret Stash. I have a feeling that the more offerings I test out, the better it will be for my company and the future of the business.

Secret Stash – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Secret Stash is a personal stylist business where I help people put together outfits through Photoshop so they have a better idea of what the outfits will look like when worn together. Currently, I offer my customers my visual looks and links for customers to buy the items through email correspondence. I don’t hold any inventory, which sets Secret Stash apart from the likes of TrunkClub and Stitch-Fix. With Secret Stash, I can literally shop anywhere for my clients and I love that because it gives me so much freedom to shop for clients and make it more personal. I am very proud of where Secret Stash is heading right now as it continues to grow and evolve.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Owning and starting my own business has been so rewarding, I am very proud that I started Secret Stash on my own and continue to watch it grow. I never thought Secret Stash would be what it is today, but everyone has to start somewhere.
