Meet Lidisy and Irelis Becerra of Caribbean Cuba Restaurant in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lidisy and Irelis Becerra.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lidisy and Irelis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Restaurant was founded by Ibet Becerra. Hailing from Cienfuegos, Cuba, the original owner more than 12 years ago as a cozy neighborhood tavern. Today it has evolved and grown into an upscale casual bistro perfect for lunch and dinner. We have been recognized by The Courier Newspaper as one of the city’s 20 Best Restaurants two years in a row.

Irelis and I have been in charge of the restaurant for the last three years. Our Cuban cultures rich traditions combined with our love and passion for Cuban cuisine has played every part of us continuing the great reputation under the name Caribbean Cuba.

We have worked at various restaurants throughout Dallas, but the thought of starting our own restaurant would always linger. We are determined and hard workers and when we are not in the back keeping things running smoothly, you can see us in the dining room talking to both regular and new customers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Many challenges have played out in our business venture and not all things have been perfectly smooth. From maintaining the right staff to ensuring the quality of our menu remains as we have intended. We strive to provide the very best experience and make each and every guest feel at home and in many cases, a tiny bit of Cuba for many.

Ensuring we have the right finance to support our vision has been a challenge at the onset as we were taking it over from our sister Ibet, we wanted to make sure the very same menu stayed so the customers could feel the legacy continued and it has.

Please tell us about Caribbean Cuba Restaurant.
We are a family-owned business. We are all from Cienfuegos, Cuba with a simple philosophy and that is to provide a homestyle dining experience each and every time. We pride ourselves in truly knowing Cuban food from all regions of the country. We provide the richest ingredients so our customers return time and time again.

We specialize in all aspects of Cuban food and educating our non-Cuban customers on what may be recommended so they can tell their family and friends. We are very proud of the quality of our food and how we treat our customers and take care of complaints. That matters to us when customers give us their compliments and suggestions on how we can become even better.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
In any business structure you for sure see thing you could have done better or maybe in a different order shall we say. Having a great structured business plan is so important and placing priorities in inventory, staffing, equipment, marketing, catering and more are things we have learned to tighten up in order to have a greater return on our investment.
