Hi Lillian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a deep love for travel. Years ago, I bought a timeshare — and that’s really where the travel passion started.
Then I discovered travel hacking — using credit card points and airline miles to travel smarter. That just fueled the fire even more!
After working more than thirty years in manufacturing, I decided it was time to follow my passion and see what it would take to become a travel advisor.
That was a little over four years ago, and honestly — I haven’t looked back since. Nothing tops helping people make lifelong memories with their families and friends — that’s the part I love most.
I’m a proud independent contractor — partnered with one of the largest and most respected host agencies in the country, with over 11,000 travel advisors nationwide. They provide the tools, technology, and connections that let me focus on what I do best — creating amazing travel experiences for my clients.
And just last week, I was thrilled to find out I ranked in the Top 150 in sales for the month of September out of those 11,000 advisors. That is something I am very proud of!
At Vacation Is Easy, I serve as your personal travel concierge — guiding you from the very first spark of an idea until after you return home. I plan international and domestic travel, river, ocean, expedition, and yacht cruises, rail journeys, all-inclusive resorts, flights, hotels, tours, transfers, travel protection, and more.
Basically — if it involves travel — I handle it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is a slow and steady climb. It takes awhile to gain clients and can take several years before you actually make money and start getting more referrals and repeat clients. And a lot of training is involved. I am always learning, studying, listening to webinars and podcasts, purchasing new tools and traveling to experience destinations first hand.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a solo business owner, but I am also part of a massive professional network with trusted colleagues who have been all over the world. I am also very education- focused and hold over 100 training certificates and I am a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) through The Travel Institute. I offer luxury, family, couple, solo and group travel all around the world whether by land, rail or cruise. My service sets me apart from others. I help you from the spark of an idea, through the planning process, handling all of the details and issues until you return home. I am your personal travel concierge and make your vacation easy.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Listen to the client to discover what they really want. Sometimes clients aren’t even sure what they want or how to articulate it. Saying you want a “beach” could mean many different things: swimmable, walkable, soft, sandy, coral, rocky, volcanic, pocket/ cove, color of sand, narrow/ wide, waves/ tide, etc. I start with a Zoom call that the client can schedule using my Calendly link which is on my website https://vacationiseasy.com/ with the “Help Plan My Travel” button at the top. I ask a lot of questions to ascertain how to best plan the perfect vacation for each client. That really helps narrow things down to provide the best itinerary as your personal travel concierge.
