Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Nguyen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I was always a visual learner and I loved capturing things visually rather then explaining it to people whether it’d be from scrapbooking, decorating, starting a project, or even through taking photos. I wanted to show others the beauty in everything that I saw and I realized that photography was my creative way in expressing that. I started out in California on product marketing photography for small businesses, tea shops, and even boutiques which also lead me to free-lancing portrait photography in the long run. Ever since then, I’ve been real happy with all of the people I’ve met in my life that has helped me on my journey. I then decided to move to Texas in 2015 to start a new life over here and have been slowly expanding my portfolio ever since then!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a smoother road in California because I had a bunch of friends & family who would help me out on any project I needed help with but ever since I’ve moved to Texas, it has been a challenging way to achieve some of the projects I have in mind mainly because I don’t know that many people over here yet. It’s a very different atmosphere over here but that doesn’t mean it’s going to stop me. I’d like to see it as there are always a bunch of other people willing to help out regardless.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Small Moments Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a free-lance photographer so it’s me, myself, and I on everything. I don’t want to say I specialize in a one specific field of photography because I’d like to expand my portfolio more. I’d say I’m familiar with doing portraits, weddings, product engagement and sometimes special events. The one thing I am most proud for is the portraits I have done for the boutiques I have worked for. The whole setting up process still amazes me in how much work we all put in to capture the beauty of that moment. I think what sets me apart from others is the different outlook I have on everything. Whether it’d be a simple building, tree or even a piece of clothing. You could give me something simple to capture and I could capture it in a different way to make someone see the beauty in it.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to hopefully turn this into a full-time job. I think the next big step for me is to get my work recognized out there in the special events/concerts field and hopefully, I will get to travel to capture these candid moments. There’s just something about an artist performing in their prime time that amazes me and I want to be able to capture it! I’m also looking forward to continuing more of my portrait work especially in the DFW area.
