Meet Linde Cuthbertson of Sixteen8 Boutique in Little Elm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linde Cuthbertson.

Linde, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Sixteen8 started as a small crafting business that I began so that I would have something to do as a stay at home mom. One day in 2016, I thought it would be a great idea to custom etch a stainless steel tumbler for my brother in law, and from there, things really took off.

We now offer many different customs and personalized gifts to individuals, and promotional and marketing items to local businesses. Our items include, but are not limited to, glittered, painted or etched stainless steel tumblers, t-shirts and home/office decor. I am very grateful for where I am today, looking back on where it all started.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say, the road has been a little bumpy along the way, but overall I have been very blessed. Along the way, I have encountered obstacles that so many people in retail face, including business being slow due to the time of year, or state of the economy.

I also took some time off for the birth of my son, and it took some time to come back from that. You have to consistently stay in front of your audience or people will forget what you do.

Please tell us about Sixteen8 Boutique.
Sixteen8 is a Christian-based, family-owned boutique that offers custom personalized gifts, and promotional and marketing items for other local businesses. Although we are most known for our custom tumblers, I specialize in etching. We stand apart from others because I work so hard to see my customers happy. I am most proud of the quality of my work, and the standards to which I hold it.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is winning my Jr. National showmanship competition with my show calf. I was in 4H and FFA growing up and showed registered Polled Hereford heifers. This particular memory stands out because it shows how much heart and work I put into all of my endeavors.
