Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Attaway.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsay. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The passion for life that lives within me has always been a driving force. However, most of my inspiration comes my intriguing experiences of traveling. In 2004, I relocated to Dallas, Texas to enroll in Toni and Guy Hairdressing Academy; cosmetology school. With my love for fashion, this was right up my alley for a career choice. After I graduated from Toni and Guy Hairdressing Academy; cosmetology school, I worked as a hairstylist and managed salons for eight years. I loved working in this extraordinary industry and with all of the artistic stylist. It was not until I walked into a yoga studio one day that my life would take a little bit of a turn. But in a good way, like when you accidentally turn, and the sunset is right before you. It showed me a path that I wasn’t aware of, a road I had not been down before.
It opened my eyes to the world of like-minded people who were in it for more than just what they got out of it. I met people that worked with charities, who were open to a healthy mindset, people that were going through some really hard times and lots of really stressed people who all had smiles on their faces when the classes were over. This was something that piqued my interest, and I wanted to be a part of it. And so that is what I did… I got my first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training under my belt. Then I started a clothing line called Dirty Blondes, beginning with t-shirts, sweatshirts and eventually moved into activewear.
All of these steps were done with the intention of donating a portion of my proceeds to charity. This is what the “Love is Dope” campaign was created for, all in the name of giving back. That was so fulfilling that I decided to take some classes on health and nutrition. My next move was to get another 200 Hour Yoga Certification. The creativity continued with the founding of Desert Bliss. Desert Bliss is a company that has a bedrock in handmade jewelry, handbags that are made by artisans in India along with other things all having an intention of “Keeping you grounded”.
With all of this swirling creativity and my heart so full, I wanted to get into *energy work*. I got Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 certified, later this same year I completed a 200 Hour Meditation Teacher Training. I am the happiest I have ever been, doing all of these different things somehow it fits together really well. I have learned that if you can be happy, be happy.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the lessons that taught me the most was that everything you do and create will not be for everyone. And it is okay knowing and accepting that. Just stay true to your vision and your own path. People are drawn to realness.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Attaway to Alchemy and Desert Bliss & Dirty Blondes – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The three business are all different but intertwined.
Attaway to Alchemy is my newest venture, I offer yoga and meditation classes, custom jewelry and a blog about everything from health and eco-friendly hotels to my travels around the globe, I even talk about personal things like my family, my dogs and everything in between.
Desert Bliss and Dirty Blondes were both created with the intention to give back. So that is what we do… These are both genuinely special, I teamed up with some artisans and orphanages to purchase things to resale, and to donate a portion of the proceeds back to them. As for now, the jewelry is all designed and mostly handmade by myself and my team.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to the synchronicities that the Universe is providing and just being open to whatever comes my way!
