Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Irby and Hannah Clark.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hannah and I started our story at a venue in Wimberley, Texas that we worked at together. We found a love and passion for event planning while working for a unique venue that provided all-inclusive services. As we continued to work at this venue, we began to be treated in a poor manner unfortunately and did not feel appreciated for our services and creativity that we brought to their venue. We sat down one day and decided to start a company of our own, Hunny Moon Events. We both have similar styles that incorporate boho, modern, with a touch of rustic, to really fit the trends on this new generation to come.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been extremely smooth. When me and Hannah decided to open this business while working at our venue in Wimberley, unfortunately our Boss was not very happy with us not letting her know we wanted to do this on the side. She fired Lindsay and Lindsay had to move back to Dallas area, and at the time we were opening and launching in Austin. We decided to split into two markets, Austin and Dallas. This was very hard with communications being in two different places as owners, but luckily Hannah has just received a job in the Dallas area and we are working into only supporting the DFW area now with our services.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hunny Moon Events story. Tell us more about the business.
Hannah and I provide full coordination services for any event but specialize in weddings as of now. We also provide day of services as well for our couples that just need a helping hand the day of. We are known for our modern, eccentric, boho style. We bring a very trendy aesthetic to all the weddings we are involved in, making us always have unique couples with styles that are very trend forward. We are most proud of our transparency and being able to build this company at such a young age with me being 24 and Hannah only 23. I think the biggest thing that sets us apart from others is that we have a style that is not traditional at all. We love bringing in new innovative elements to each of our events. Hannah was an art major and created amazing pieces for all of our events, and that also set us apart from other planners and designers. We are able to offer calligraphy services and custom personalization in some of our packages.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think we believe in luck here at Hunny Moon. All of our clients have come from hard work in our marketing and advertising and being able to show our willingness to work as hard as we can for our clients.
