Meet Lindsay Meyers of Optima Fitness Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Meyers.

Lindsay Meyers

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all began when my parents opened up a gym near my hometown in Southeast Michigan around 2003. Shortly after, I became a certified trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and have been training ever since. After moving to Texas in 2010, I worked as a trainer at a couple gyms in North Texas for a few years until opening my own studio in Denton in June of 2014- coming up on 10 years ago! We work with a variety of different people with different goals, from teenagers just beginning on their exercise path, those looking to build muscle and/or increase strength, weight loss, rehabbing injuries, training for an event, etc. All of our programs are individualized and specific to each person.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, we have had a pretty smooth road. Covid threw a bit of a wrench into things as it did for many businesses. We went to online training for a little while, but we are glad to have come through it on the other side and have continued to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Optima Fitness Studio is a private training studio offering one-on-one or one-on-one training in 30-minute or 60-minute sessions. We work with individuals of all ages and fitness levels. What sets us apart from training in a traditional gym is that everything is individualized, and everyone exercising in our studio is working with a trainer, so it remains private. Before beginning a training program, I meet with each person individually to chat about personal details such as goals, health history, etc., as well as a movement screening to assess muscle imbalances that may be affecting their body as a whole. From there, we can determine areas to strengthen, stretch, etc., and know a more specific direction to take their program so it provides the most benefit to them. We offer a bit of a unique atmosphere and service and have developed strong relationships with our clients that have turned into many great friendships. We have been very lucky over the last several years to achieve success we have had and have the people that we do in our studio!

We are quite proud of where we are today, the relationships we have with our clients, as well as the results that they see and how fitness and exercise have changed their lives. The most rewarding part about my job is seeing our clients not only transform physically but more importantly improving their lives on a larger scale. The ability to perform tasks or projects they may have been unable to do before, come off or decrease medications, go on a trip they’ve been dreaming about, lift something they never could, as well as relieving pain issues that may have been impacting their lives for years. We love seeing lives change for the better.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
We love to support and work with others in our community who have similar goals of improving health, fitness, and well-being. It is great to have a network of like-minded people and businesses that we can refer our clients to for additional support of their journey.
