Today we’d like to introduce you to Linze Green.
Linze, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Maid N Dallas was born in 2014 in graduate school. I always knew I wanted to be own a business and provide opportunities for others. It started when a friend of mine who is a traveling DJ needed his closet reorganized. He was gone most of the time and he was in need of someone who could keep his home in order while gone for work. He said he would pay me to do it.
I spent 4 hours re-arranging his closet from top to bottom, organizing by brand, color style and trends. He was so amazed but the kicker is, I didn’t know what to charge him. So I randomly told him $300 and he paid it. After that, he asked if I could clean up his house and I obliged and from there, I put him on a weekly schedule and I would charge him different each time because I didn’t know anything but how to clean thoroughly.
Three months into cleaning his home on a weekly basis, I started to look into the service cleaning industry and from there, we began to see how lucrative the service industry was and that cleaning is something that would help family and businesses. From there, I started to structure my business and with the help of his support, I begin to start gaining new clients via word of mouth.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road? LOL more like bumpy road. As an entrepreneur, there are many ups and downs in any business. My first struggle was being unafraid to hire people.
Although we had a background screening process the fact of putting people in homes that I had been cleaning was very scary. But I was able to overcome that by implementing a training system that helped the Cleaning Specialist with product knowledge and usage as well as time and efficiency and most important Safety.
There has also been an issue with Cleaning Specialist not showing up on time, secretly trying to solicit business from our clients and cleaners taking products and using them at home. With all those experiences that occurred, it helped me develop systems and structures that would and have streamlined our field processes when our cleaning specialist are on the job.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over, I would have more capital and I would definitely have more systems in place before we start servicing. When we first began, we did a lot of trial and error. Although our services never lacked, it was the internal (business processes that were lackluster).
