Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Rausa.
Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I first started photography, in general, I noticed how many times moms would say they felt “awkward” in front of the camera, or how they were used to always being the one “taking the pictures” but never in them. It became a “thing” for me to count how many times I heard this within so much time. I then decided I wanted to “branch out” & start offering sessions specifically for Women. This is where 204 Boudoir was born.
My vision & drive for 204 Boudoir is for women of all shapes/sizes/ethnicity/background to feel comfortable in their own skin. To feel empowered as women & to show them their beauty through my lens & my art. Sure, we provide Inspiration boards for our clients, we help them pick out their outfits, we even provide Professional Hair & Make up for their session, but we want them to truly FEEL their worth & their beauty during their session. We love to pamper our clients & we love even more when they brag about how amazing they felt.
With 204 Boudoir, you aren’t just getting a “Boudoir” session, you are getting experience with a TEAM that not only Photographs, but also teaches & mentors several in the industry on Boudoir Posing, Lighting, Hair/Makeup Tips, & so much more. While we do Boudoir, we also offer Couples Intimate Sessions & so much more, while keeping it classy. These types of sessions are especially popular for Valentine’s, Anniversaries, & even Birthday Gifts or Christmas.
We have a Gorgeous Natural Light Studio in the heart of Historic Downtown Mckinney where our sessions take place, so you can rest in knowing that the location is set specifically for your session in mind with various set/look options to include but not be limited to a lifestyle feel, livingroom set, bedroom set, several different couch/settee looks/colors, & so much more. The shoots are always fun, tasteful & classy.
Our Professional Hair & Make up artist on staff is amazing at what she does & specializes in the Boudoir/Dramatic eyes effects. Making sure that you love the outcome of your pampering.
Aside from all that, we work with a Professional Lab, where you can have complete confidence that your images can be printed on a variety of items, including, but not limited to Canvas, Mounted Prints, Keepsake Leather Albums & so much more.
Boudoir can be as risque or as mild as you’d like it to be, & for me personally, my very own boudoir sessions are often “lifestyle me”… meaning a comfy oversized sweatshirt or sports jersey, some knee-high socks, messy bun & my coffee mug. However, I do like to add in a few pieces of risque lingerie to spice it up a tad. So, whatever your desire, whether doing these as a personal boost, pick me up or a seducing gift for your significant other, you can’t go wrong with 204 Boudoir! We even host/offer Boudoir Parties! Think of a fun girls night in with Wine, Makeup, giggles, & excitement! These are great for Bridal Parties, Bachelorette Parties or even just for fun girls get together. Without Boudoir Parties, you as a Hostess (the one inviting all your friends) gets Hostess Rewards! Meaning your session could be completely FREE!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would have to say like with any business, you hit some bumps along the road at some point. For me, that was separating my Boudoir business from my regular Photography business. It took me a little bit to market to new clients specifically for Boudoir, at the same time, many of my regular Photography clients thought I completely quit doing Boudoir. So, I created a new website & social pages specific to Boudoir & started marketing separately. It was a slow process for a few months, but it’s up & going well now.
With Mentoring others in our area for Boudoir, it has been a blast. Getting to work with so many talented artist has always been so fun in general, but the Boudoir artist just a bit of extra spark to that fun!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with 204 Boudoir – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I feel like what really sets us apart from others in our industry is the fact that we specialize in Boudoir as a whole, from Hair/Makeup to Posing. It’s really what makes or breaks the confidence factor for many women. We’ve had clients tell us that they’ve had Boudoir sessions done in the past, but hated the results because the makeup was orange, or because the photographer shot at angles that made them feel super self-cautious of their bodies.
With our experience in this field, we are able to really dig deep with our clients prior to their session date to really get to know how they feel & what they want to focus on most during their session.
I would have to say I am proud of the investments we’ve made in this business to show our clients exactly what they mean to us. We re-invest in our business every month, whether it is in teachings, new props, new client closet pieces, new furniture or just offering something new for an inclusive price. I feel this helps prevent every client having the same exact “look” for their images.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For 2019, I am looking to host a couple “Women Movements” with our Boudoir Business. I want to get women of all backgrounds together to support one another. Women who are work at home, women who are corporate America, women who are CEOs, I want all women to come together & build each other up. We have to support each other.
