Meet Lola Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lola Jordan, the model, the philanthropist, the survivor.

Lola, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My Mom passed away about 12 years. At the time, I really didn’t know to honor her or really cope with her loss, so about two years on the 10th Anniversary of her passing, I thought it would be beautiful to honor her and help others share their story by starting a foundation in her memory called the Patricia Jordan Foundation. We provide financial and mental health resources to children that have lost one or both parents. Our mantra is love, hope, and healing. I want to continue to share my story and keep my mom’s legacy alive.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth journey, I honestly believe I am still grieving from mother’s passing. I take it one day at a time and I have to honor myself in that process. I have struggled with not really allowing myself to really feel and running away from my emotions, which is unhealthy. Grief comes in waves, and I believe the wave gets tough for me when I reach certain milestones in my life like birthdays, graduations, and mother’s day. My advice to young women on this journey of grief is to seek therapy and just really allow yourself to feel. It’s important that you are self-aware and to be open, honest, and transparent with yourself. Remember you are never alone and do something to honor your loved one to keep their legacy alive.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
When I am not working on my foundation, I am a teacher and a model. I love to work with kids because I want to make an impact in their lives. It’s important they feel loved, respected, and safe. I have had so many teachers in my life that have left a lasting impact on me. I love to express myself in front of the camera, I want to be able to tell a story through my pictures. What I love about my foundation is that I get to help children who have gone through or going through the same thing as I did, I want to make a difference as much as possible in their lives.

I am most proud of my growth and I want to continue to focus on being the best version of myself.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The most important piece of advice I would give to a young woman starting in her career is to figure out what you love to do and how you can help others. Remember to take it one day at a time, don’t be hard on yourself, always remember your purpose, stay true to who you are and stay in your light and keep it shining.
