

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Cowley.
Loren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Laurie and I were attending a church in Sunnyvale and started Working on a/c units for friends and Church members. They in turn referred us to others and it just kept getting busier, Then through another group we had a friend who referred us to Baylor downtown where we started working on a lot of the satellite buildings, clinics and surgery centers, the more we showed that we were qualified to do the more work we did. This included replacement of small rooftop units to 100 ton chiller units. We also did service and diagnosed special units. Laurie and I took Pride in offering great customer service, the utmost Honesty and morals. We were not pushy sales people, we did not try to sell new units and parts that were not needed.
In doing this kind of service for our customers/ friends, we held a level of good trust as a referral to other. Our business has grown slowly because of this “utmost honesty and integrity, but we pay our bills and sleep good at night knowing that we are doing the right thing with each customer for their best benefit.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been anything but smooth. We work very long hours and like I said earlier we charge a very reasonable price for our work, pay big taxes and we offer our employees and pay 50 % of health insurance. We have the overhead of all the regular business stuff; trucks, office supplies, insurance, workers comp etc.
We have never taken a business loan out to grow, everything is paid for and we own. My wife and I will be going on our 2nd vacation in 10 years this October. We bought a small house last year in Terrell with a 2000 sq. ft. shop and turned a part if that into a finished office. The new house is half the size of the new house we bought in Forney 5 years ago, my wife had to make a drastic adjustment for this new house as it is in the country but it is what I needed for the business, she and I have both made tremendous sacrifices and missed out on many evenings together. We hope it will pay off in the right way down the road, not just in money but most of all for the customers that we have grown to as our friends.
L & L HVAC Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a fairly small company as it goes. We specialize in Residential, Commercial, and mechanical service, troubleshooting, repair and replacement. I also have experience in Testing chambers such as Blue M, Thermotron, Fisher Scientific, including Hi temp ovens, Thermal shock chambers, and low temp Cascade systems that go down to -100 degrees Fahrenheit. Clean room units as would be in places like TI, Motorola and Intel. I traveled the country and Mexico for 15 years servicing and preforming installation of this equipment. I bring this knowledge that I have been blessed to have with me into my work today. Our Moto is “YES WE CAN”. We are probably known for our Honesty and good customer service, having the Integrity to make sure it’s right or we will make it right even if it comes out of our pocket. The things that I have previously mentioned like honesty, good morals and integrity is what I believe sets us apart from the others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The one moment that sticks out is the day that I passed the TDLR exam and received my license.
