Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori and Jeff Antonioli.
Lori and Jeff, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After my husband had been working for Spenco, a privately held company located in Waco, Texas, for six years as Vice President of global sales, the owner of the company came to him with some big news. He had sold a large part of the company that focused on insoles to another conglomerate. He was ready to retire and offered to sell the footwear part of the company to four of the lead employees in the company. Jeff was one of those employees. After several months of negotiations, legal work and a lot of introspection, we took the plunge to become part owners of Spenco Footwear. The new company is called FourFoot, but we sell Spenco Footwear, Ironman Sandals, Silicone, and Revitalign.
Has it been a smooth road?
It is never easy owning a business. The pressure of selling enough items to pay our employees, rising insurance costs, and the manufacturers can be stressful. Did we mention that we were deciding to purchase this business just as we were about to have son number two start college? Because the business is smaller without the insoles and we are funding a new business, we chose to sacrifice our income. Although there have been struggles along the way, it’s nice to be your own boss and have a larger impact on the strategic direction of the company.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Spenco Footwear – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our company carries several lines of orthotic footwear. This footwear promotes a healthier lifestyle, proper alignment, and helps relieve pain associated with Plantar Fasciitis, neuropathy, and bunions. Because we are a small company, we truly know our customers and therefore can provide personalized interactions, quick response times, and great service. We also love the products we sell which make our job fun. Our employees believe in teamwork and everyone works hard every day to make our company run smoothly!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Waco is centrally located in Texas and the United States makes it an optimal place for a distribution center. Although Waco is a big city, it has a small town feel. People are friendly and helpful.
