Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Blad.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I fell in love with real estate in college. Discovering Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and Robert Kiyosaki opened up a new world for me. Seeing how to create wealth with real estate was something that made sense and seemed like a no-brainer. I didn’t decide to get my real estate license until 2018 but I’ve studied the markets and invested personally since graduating college. I had twin girls and moved with my family to Abu Dhabi in 2008 and came back in 2012. I grew up in Denton and have lived in Lewisville, Flower Mound, Northlake, and Argyle with my own family. My girls will graduate high school this year. I have been a founding member in a brand-new brokerage, Absolute Realty and I have earned my mortgage lender’s license, as well, adding NXT Mortgage to my repertoire. I absolutely love helping people build wealth with real estate. I love helping families and work very differently than most realtors. I don’t consider myself in sales, I’m an advisor, consultant, and helper.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was in my late 30s when I got my real estate license. I had already bought, sold, and rented out several homes personally, so my personal experience has been invaluable. When I first had my license, I spent a couple of years looking for a place/brokerage to call home that felt like a good fit. At first, I thought I would do commercial real estate. My first year with my license I worked in commercial real estate and did not enjoy it or find success in it. From there, I started to jump brokers and teams. I was told to memorize scripts and to do things a certain way that did not work for me and did not feel genuine. After a couple of years, I started to work with a mentor who helped me start to trust and believe in myself, my own style, and leave the scripts behind. That’s when it started to come together for me, and my business started to take off. In retrospect, I wouldn’t call it easy but it was what I needed to get me where I am, so I’m grateful for the process.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I help people buy and sell their homes. I help people sell for the top dollar and buy when they want to. I have some promises and guarantees that are unique and exclusive to my clients. I seek to understand what my clients want to achieve with the purchase or sale. I love helping families buy second homes, I have partners in several vacation home markets and can help connect them with someone that will guide them in their purchase. To buy a vacation home is a beautiful way to build generational wealth while creating memories with your family as well. Is there a place you love to visit? Do you love to ski and head to NM or Co every chance you get or are the Ozarks your favorite place to spend summer vacations? I am down to earth, genuine, real, and never salesy. I am excited to help my clients do what they want to do! With my mortgage license and my real estate license and experience in both worlds, there are many ways I can help and advise.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I wish I had trusted myself more when I was just starting out. I listened to people who I didn’t connect with and I believed that others had everything figured out. I wish I had known that I could be myself and find success that was sustainable and in harmony with who I am. If you are just starting out on the journey of buying or selling a home, purchasing a vacation or second home, connect with an expert as early as possible. If you do that, you will save yourself headaches, time, and money!
