Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Carlyle.
Hi Lori, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Lori Carlyle is a native Texan, born in Lubbock but grew up in Amarillo. Her love of music was fostered by her mother’s family, including a grandfather that played the banjo in a country band that toured the southwest! Lori credits her performance experience to growing up and serving in the music ministry in church, as well as her school choirs – including the “Glee” of her highschool, “New Sound Singers!’ Lori’s passion is to deliver a performance that transports her audience – either back to memories in the past or hope for the future – but always with intention to emotionally touch.
Lori has performed with a number of bands and projects in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Cutting her teeth with “Time Warp” – a party band, she moved into the tribute scene in 2018 as the “Stevie” for Fleetwood X – A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac. She enjoyed performing as Nicks so much that she built a band to tribute the solo work, Dreams Unwind – A True Stevie Nicks Experience. She recently joined the new Abba tribute, Waterloo – A Celebration of Abba, and also launched her first country tribute, “Antebellum – Tribute to Lady A! Lori enjoys rounding out her musical experiences with acoustic duos and trios.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle for me is balance. The music started out as a hobby, and luckily has been a very successful journey. Keeping my life in balance for my family, my personal health, and the other parts of my life has been difficult at times because it’s hard to say “no” when you’re truly doing what you love and having SO MUCH FUN!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve had a 20-plus year career in the healthcare industry. I started out in Physician Recruiting and enjoyed it so much that I learned other aspects of the business to become a VP of Operations in Physician Practice Management. I was a single parent most of that time and very proud of my ability to successfully raise three beautiful people and achieve my professional goals.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I had the advantage of growing up in a house filled with music, and very fortunate to have a mother that encouraged and fostered love for it. My brother became my musical partner early in life, and we have the privilege of doing several projects together. I have an extremely supportive man in my life that’s my biggest fan and cheerleader – also helps me in all aspects of managing my band – and the best bodyguard and roadie!
