Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Arango.
Lucy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I first became interested in eyelash extensions after a bad experience I had my first time ever getting eyelash extensions. I knew there had to be something better out there.
I had been a stay at home mom for two years after being a paralegal for 7+ years. I felt the need to do something for myself and my family. I talked about getting certified for months, I researched it daily and finally (with the support of my husband who always pushed me to just do it) I signed up for cosmetology school. That in itself was even harder but I pushed through it!
After receiving my state license, I was still struggling to get a full schedule and realized that the main lash sets women were interested in where volume lashes. I made it a priority to learn and master the volume lash technique and that’s exactly what I did.
I am now booked weeks in advance and also offer lash courses that teach licensed eyelash technicians how to properly do volume lashes.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t!
You see, I started Pink Lush from NOTHING, zero, NADA!
I had no social media. I had no idea where to begin getting clientele. I relied on friends and family. I offered a lot of free work. I figured if other girls saw my work on their lashes, then they’d get interested and maybe they’d like to try them. And that’s exactly how it all began.
Aside from this. The first volume lash sets I did were not that great. Mastering the volume lash technique took a lot of time and patience. From both my clients and myself.
I am forever thankful for the girls that have stuck with me through it all, you guys are the real MVP!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Pink Lush Lash Bar story. Tell us more about the business.
Pink Lush Las Bar specializes in handmade volume eyelash extensions. The technique used to create the “volume fans” focuses on the well being of the natural lash and its growth… Too many times we hear about women who have pain or discomfort after having eyelash extensions applied.
This can be avoided if the lash technician knows what diameter to use depending on the style the client has requested.
I’m most proud of being able to offer women a service that enhances their beauty from the moment they get up in the morning. This along with the personal connections I make with each one of my clients makes me feel like im doing something to make their days, weeks or, months better (or at least till they come back for their fill).
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Definitely, see my business expanding. Possibly a location that offers a diversity of beauty services.
