Today we’d like to introduce you to Louie TheSinger.
Louie TheSinger, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Dancing was the beginning for me. Breakdancing mainly, my pops was a Bboy back in the 80s, not to mention my mother can probably do Michael Jackson better than I can. So I think between both of them, I had no choice but to move my feet. Then the rapping came along. I was 14 freshman year. I met my boy Chris Loyal and some others that showed me what “freestylin” was. So I would go home and practice and practice. That’s where the passion with music and dance collided and I wanted to do more and show a side of me that people probably never even knew I had. Then I met Lorenzo Zenteno Aka Smoothvega. His accolades speak for themselves but at the time I met him he had just started doing self-promoted shows that were very big in the city. After working with him for about a year I got a music opportunity in LA that I found on my own breakdancing in downtown Fort Worth. I lived out there on a management deal that ultimately lead me to coming back to Texas but gained me a Fanbase in the process.
So me and Smoothvega continued what we had started, which led to me getting another deal with to time Grammy award winners Play and Skillz out of Dallas Texas. I experienced amazing things with the years I spent with them we are even currently still friends but as far as business goes, we have parted ways. At that time, my life and took a turn for the worst, which was 2017, I caught a drug charge and did time and in that time, I got closer to God and myself. I was incarcerated from 2018 to 2020 and since I have been home having been blessed To have the team that I have behind me today like Smoothvega and others that have been around since the beginning. I have dropped two projects since been out almost five music videos in total and eight by the time this year is over, along with another project entitled “TRUST” that drops 11/2020 and to also in the year off, I am call headlining a show with platinum recording artist Frankie J at the Haltom theater thrown by Premier live. Also a record I have coming out next month is with an artist by the name of Kap G, who is currently signed to Atlantic records!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Prison was definitely one. And my father passed away right before I went to prison. I had a beautiful son whom I named after my father and myself but I wasn’t there for his birth due to my incarceration. So it was hard being away for that.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
R&b music is my genre and my life. I’m an emotional person so if I can make you feel what I felt when I wrote that song then I’m satisfied. What makes me separate is you don’t find many Latino men that sing in English with a background like mine. I grew up diff. I got tattoos On my body, I can never take off. I don’t regret them but I understand why some people look at me diff.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If I can eat and have a stable home and my family is taken care of off of my career, then I have succeeded.
