Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Potenza.
Luisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story begins in Venezuela. It is the country of my birth, but the United States quickly captured my heart and became my home. As a child, I dreamed of creating something that brought more beauty into this world. Velvet grew from a small garage in Venezuela and has since expanded into the United States. We hope to continue this growth and bring more beauty into the world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Obstacles and challenges come with any business. Although frustrating at times, it makes life far more interesting and rewarding. That sense of accomplishment that comes after completing a difficult task makes the whole process worth it. Establishing a successful brand in a foreign country comes with it its own challenges. Personally, I had to learn about an entirely new culture, language, and the different tastes and design preferences of its people.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Velvet Us – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our Company is about handmade jewelry. Originally, I started in marketing but have since shifted to more of a designer’s mentality. It wasn’t something I planned on doing, but I believe my passion can be seen in each piece of jewelry. Each of us here at Velvet has a passion for excellence and truly enjoy what we do.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re always looking to the future! That means adding new product, inventive new designs and expansion into new markets. Eventually, we would like to expand the brand into women’s clothing, handbags and shoes. We have a long road ahead, but we look forward to every second of it!
