Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Kyle.
Hi Lydia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a 4th generation rancher born and raised in the western way of life. Through social media, I’ve has harnessed my passion and talent for sharing authentic “ranch wife life” to create online content that showcases the real, relatable aspects of rural living within the ranching industry. I had one video go viral, and I’ve been building my network with dedication since!
First and foremost, I’m raising three small children & helping my husband on the ranch. Knowing first-hand the isolation that comes with being a ranch wife, my goal is to create community around the everyday life my family lives to help other ranching families see their own days as valuable!
When I’m not chasing kids or cattle, I collaborate with brands across the USA to help them connect with rural women in an authentic way & speaks at events to help those in the agriculture/western industries harness the positive power of social media to share their stories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is a lack of understanding about my career and about the validity of social media marketing/influencing. Not many people hear you say, “I’m an influencer,” and take you seriously when in reality I am a trusted and proven marketing asset for companies. Not only am I good at what I do, I’m paid well for it! I am earning more as a social media personality and influencer than I’ve made at any salaried position while still being able to stay home as a homemaker/mom (which is my true joy).
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for sharing relatable and authentic life in rural areas, specifically in agriculture. Often times the “farmhouse culture” can give a glossy, rose-colored approach to what it’s like to live on a farm or ranch… But any woman who REALLY lives in these places can tell you it’s not always romantic. I share what life is REALLY like for us, and that raw honesty has drawn a lot of people to my platforms.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband has never once doubted what I’m doing. Despite the fact that he doesn’t even have a social media profile or understand social media in the slightest, he’s never questioned my ability to do this full-time. That support has made my path a little easier because the one person I need the most for support is my biggest fan… He was even the FIRST subscriber to my newsletter and reads them all religiously.
