Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Hagins. Lynn was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Brandie Pyburn.
Hi Lynn, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
When growing up I always wanted to be an educator. I remember the first time when I heard that word it clicked in my spirit that was my destiny in life. My life has taken a lot of twists and turns. Becoming a teacher has manifested itself in ways I never imagined. The most valuable lessons that life has taught me have not been in a formal classroom setting but through my experiences. For eight years I had the pleasure of working in the public school system with special needs students. Through that experience, which taught me how to truly love with patience and endurance. Those children through their simplicity educated me a great deal about overcoming mental and physical challenges. God in all of his infinite wisdom sets us up for success, not a failure! He conveys to us in his word that our steps are ordered by him. I did not realize that working with those children was preparation for me to overcome my own physical challenges later on. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with a spinal cord condition called Spinal Stenosis that severely damaged my spine and affected my ability to walk and function. Despite the intense physical therapy, my tears, prayers, and faith in God I made a decision not to give up. I told myself this was not the end of my life but the beginning of a new journey with the Lord. I give him all the PRAISE for my progressive COMEBACK! One thing I have learned throughout this ordeal is life can throw us some unexpected curves but at the end of the day, it is up to us! Defeat is a state of mind; my body may be weak but I chose to keep my mind [spirit] strong! Currently, I went back to school as a full-time student pursuing my college degree. Also, I serve as vice-president of Sisterhood Through God’s Plan [STGP Inc.] A phenomenal Christian non-profit organization created by Author Brandie Pyburn-Smith, CEO & Founder which empowers ALL women to strive for greatness. God created each and every one of us for a purpose so that we can pay it forward. It is our responsibility as human beings to live a life with intent while becoming everything the Lord created for us to be. We do this for our own good, yet he gets the GLORY out of it!
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
At this present time, I am a full-time student pursuing my teaching degree in Special Education. Also, I am the Vice-President of Sisterhood Through God’s Plan [STGP, Inc.} founded by Author Brandie Pyburn-Smith, CEO & Founder. An astounding Christian non-profit organization that is built on Godly principles. We are a fairly new sisterhood that empowers women of all ethnicities. I have the honor of working with some amazing Godly women within our organization. I am a very hands-on individual because it allows me to pray, counsel, and encourage women. I also enjoy the administrative side of it as well but being able to minister to women is first-and-foremost! I love meeting them right where they are, which allows me to grow with compassion as a Christian woman. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to postpone our first annual conference. As a sisterhood, we are determined to go forward no matter what challenges we face! What excites me the most about my position as VP is watching God’s women preserver despite all kinds of obstacles and setbacks.
As you know, we’re big fans of Brandie Pyburn and Sisterhood Through God’s Plan, Inc. we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with Brandie.
I would describe Brandie as a fun-loving, outgoing people person who would do just about anything for anyone! She has a beautiful personality. She is one of those women who is the total package inside and out. Her ability to extend herself to people is amazing! Also, her intelligence and brain power are exemplary. Her passion and drive for women to succeed in their businesses is amazing. The way she motivates, pushes, and encourages women at various stages in their lives is phenomenal. Not only does she possess the drive and ambition to conquer in the business world but also in a spiritual aspect. Her personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ is an inspiration to all. As a powerful woman of God, she has overcome some great obstacles. I believe that her life experiences both positive and negative have molded and shaped her into the powerful force she has become. Her tenacious attitude, bulldog faith, firm determination, and hard work has deemed her to be one the most positive, influential, young woman I have ever met! Because of her motivation she has not only inspired me to go back to school but three other women in the organization are following in her footsteps. She consistently tells us as women that we can do all things through Christ no matter how hard it may be. Brandie definitely lives by the adage that there is no “I” in the word TEAM! This is how good she makes women feel about themselves. She allows them to be who God created them to be with no apologies. Giving each one of us the opportunity to utilize our God-given gifts, talents, and abilities. Brandie is an awesome leader, motivational speaker, author, wife, mother, student, and friend. It has been such a great blessing and honor to know her while serving as the Vice President of STGP, Inc.
