Today we’d like to introduce you to Mackenzie Skipper.
Mackenzie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was first introduced to “Marquee Letters” when I went on a search for them for our wedding in 2017. When I was unable to find any in DFW I knew there was a need for this product. After two years of moving around the country with my husband for his football career in the NFL, I needed something for “ME”. My husband encouraged me to follow the hunch I had to open up a Marquee Letter business in DFW… now here we are! Alpha Lit launched on March 31, 2019. Since our launch, we have booked 120 events and have expanded to Fort Worth, Atlanta, Kansas City, Northwest Arkansas, and New Orleans. I am thankful every day for my Husband believing in me and selflessly encouraging me to follow my dreams of being a business owner. My husband is still playing in the NFL and we both are living out our dreams.
Has it been a smooth road?
SMOOTH? When the box truck pulled up with 60 HUGE letters… I immediately thought, “WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING!”. Our biggest struggle was working out how to set these things up in the most stable way possible. We also got asked to do some amazing events where they wanted the letters stacked on top of each other. We worked tirelessly in the garage using trial and error to perfect our “stack.” Now, here we’re doing almost 50% of our events stacked! When people ask me in business if I can do something outside the box. I tell them “I will figure it out.” There is nothing more rewarding than seeing clients views come to life.

For a business like Alpha-Lit, it is ALL ABOUT MARKETING. Dallas is a great market to start any business because of the number of people in the metroplex as well as the number of events. No company will be successful without putting the work into it. As my Dad always says “Nothing worth doing is easy.”
