Meet Madison Herrera of Birth With Madison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Herrera

Hi Madison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Dallas, my passion for supporting mothers in childbirth was sparked at a young age, back when my older sister and I would watch TLC’s *A Baby Story* in the early 2000s. That early fascination led me to complete my DONA International Training in March 2020, then went on to get BEST Certified in 2024, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of assisting mothers through a wide variety of birth experiences, including VBACs, C-sections, vaginal births with and without epidurals, home births, birthing center births, and hospital births.

As a doula, I am deeply committed to advocating for the mother’s desires, comfort, and endurance throughout the birthing process. I believe that every pregnant mother deserves to have a dedicated support person who is solely focused on her well-being. I make it a priority to build strong relationships with my clients before, during, and after their birth experiences, ensuring they feel empowered and supported at every stage.

I am also a placenta encapsulator and enjoy discussing all aspects of birth and postpartum care. My goal is to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and tools so that I can provide the best possible care and guidance to my clients.

In addition to my work as a doula, I have spent many years working as a nanny, which has further strengthened my nurturing and supportive nature. My flexible schedule allows me to be fully present for my clients, and I take great pride in building life-long friendships and relationships with them.

Outside of my work, my husband and I enjoy country and western dancing, fishing, hosting game nights with friends, and spending time with our niece and nephews.

I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your unique birthing journey with care, compassion, and expertise.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has actually been a few struggles along the way, finding my footing in the doula world has been tough but a great one. This is true for many careers though, but thankfully I have found my community of supportive and amazing doulas that stand with me when times are hard, and when times are going really well.

We’ve been impressed with Birth With Madison, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Birth Doula and Placenta Encapsulator. I have had many years in the nanny field helping families raise their babies, where I became very passionate about helping growing families. This allowed me to give clients information on how to have a safe and healthy birth they are proud of. I also love the ability to help in the postpartum phase with encapsulating placentas. This is where I take the placenta after delivery, of those that want this done, and turn it into a powder for them to consume, or for them to have the powder to plant with it. From all of my many reviews you can see that I am extremely passionate about helping families have the births and postpartum they truly want.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I truly wish I had taken the advice of many doulas before me in getting out in the community and making connections sooner. It is hard to try and navigate this world alone, get out from behind the computer and meet doulas, midwives, OBGYNs, chiropractors, IBCLCs and so many more face to face. This builds your community, they will know you and you will know them.
