Meet Madison Seiler of Cookie Mama in Mansfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Seiler.

Madison, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To introduce myself, my name is Madison Seiler. I’ve always gone by Madi but now I proudly go by Cookie Mama. Graduate of East Central University, with a degree in Kinesiology exercise science with a minor in Biology. Besides being a full-time student, I was also a D-2 volleyball athlete, which is a full-time job in itself. After graduating, I had my son and started personal training at Fit Body Bootcamp and worked at Texas Live.

Unknowingly Cookie Mama LLC all started with a Christmas present from my wonderful mother. Which was a private cookie class for my mom, sister, and I. Decorating came so naturally to me and instantly, I was hooked. Then along came COVID-19 as I was working two full-time jobs to make ends meet for my son and I. The next thing I knew, I was unemployed. For Easter everyone was stressed and overwhelmed due to COVID. I decided to try to cheer everyone up by some yummy cookies. I researched some cookie and frosting recipes on the internet and started to see which one was the best. My first cookies were even rolled out with a wine bottle from one of my mom’s wine collections. I started with one batch of cookies and posted them to my Facebook just to share some Easter love, the next thing I knew, I was flooded with order inquiries. Instantly I called my backup, my sister Megan to help me delegate and get everything organized. I inquired with my mom and the internet on what to even charge for the cookies.

The first three days, I baked and decorated 2000 cookies to my amazement; everyone loved them and were gushing over them and asking me for more. I then went to the grocery store and the baking store called the cake carousel to get the right tools and ingredients to make my cookies better. I even got a proper rolling pin. My sister was kind enough to lend me her kitchen aid mixer because I killed my mom’s hand mixer. Since then, I actually teach cookie decorating classes at cake carousel and also do private decorating parties. One of the things I love the best about doing cookies is bringing out the individual’s unique personality through the cookies. Sometimes people give me ideas and sometimes people let me run free creatively after getting a few snippets of what they like. Letting my creativity run wild is so much fun and seeing the people’s face after receiving the cookies is utterly amazing and that’s exactly what I live for. Living 24 years of my life and never knowing I had this talent is insane and surprising to even myself because I never knew I had this skill. I’ve done so many different cookies and I get challenged every week with more new and fun cookie themes. I invite you to go look at my Facebook Cookie Mama LLC or my Instagram cookiemamallc. You will see a vast variety from unicorns to Minecraft to friends themed and everything in between.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a pretty smooth road for the most part, with some bumps here and there. But I did have to get a new mixer because the one my sister gave me was starting to overheat due to the many orders I was receiving. I purchased my new mixer that is an industrial grade, from a birthday fundraiser that I had on my Facebook. And the people that have had my cookies and that have supported me throughout this whole experience really came through to continue to support my mama run business because they believe in me and my product. These friends, family, and cookie lovers, I could not have done it without your support and the kind words you have said, I love each and every one of y’all so very much and I am forever grateful.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cookie Mama – what should we know?
Cookie Mama LLC is a mama run business specializing in decorative personalized sugar cookies. My cookies are known for their creative personalized cookies, without tasting like a stale cracker. I go above and beyond to get the best ingredients for my cookies. Personally, I am a cookie snob so with that being said, if I wouldn’t eat it I wouldn’t sell it. My customers say they are the best cookies they have ever eaten. Not only do they look stinking cute but they taste wonderful. I am most proud of how quickly and naturally everything came together and also all the cookie customer base I’ve already built up by loyal customers and referrals regarding reorders. What sets me apart from others is my now fiancé is in the marines and so I’m still doing everything myself while he is away. I raise our three children, run my business, while also making sure our home is taken care of. Also, I am very easy to get in touch with regarding orders, I am very open and honest and won’t sugar coat anything unless its cookies.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Love is the most important quality I bring to the table. Everything I do is done with love. I bake with love, decorate with love and I love talking to people. People feel at home with my cookies and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I absolutely love what I do.
