Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Tinder.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I attended the University of Kentucky for my undergraduate degree from 2014-2017. I had dreams of being a sports reporter my entire life. During my time at UK, I worked for UK athletics where I worked games doing video shooting, editing and social media. I loved it so much because it gave me experience in the media world. I also had three internships at news stations throughout my time in college where I would get to follow reporters around and shoot my own stand-ups for my reel.
One morning I woke up and something didn’t feel right. I was six months away from graduating with a Journalism degree and my gut was telling me that it’s not what I am destined to do. It was a hard talk with my parents. I knew I wanted to work in sports but the Journalism world wasn’t for me.
I decided I wanted to work in marketing. I took the GRE and applied to 2 schools for my master’s degree. Southern Methodist University in Dallas and University of Louisville. My family is from Texas so I really wanted to move to Dallas.
I ended up not doing so well on the GRE. I knew I wasn’t going to get into SMU. I remember the moment I was sitting on my couch and got an email saying my decision was ready in my portal. My friends were gathering around me. I was nervous. I opened my portal and saw the virtual balloons. I got in.
Five months later, I packed my bags and moved to Dallas all my by myself. I knew no one.
The program was a year long. My goal was to work in Marketing for a professional sports team after my time at SMU.
I met so many wonderful people. I interned at a Major League Baseball agency and NFL agency where I did a lot of social media and marketing work. It was great experience but something didn’t feel right either. Once I graduated, I got a part-time job doing social media management for a doctor who is one of the many doctors for an NBA team. I fell in love with it. I was combining my passion and expertise together and it brought me so much joy.
She started referring me to people who needed social media help. Three months later, I had five clients. Five months later, I had eight clients. I stopped looking for a job and registered my business name under Lone Star Digital Content. I wanted to grow MY OWN marketing agency. I started getting my business on social media as a portfolio.
It brought me into the online space. I learned about coaching and consulting from some friends in the online space. I started offering free consultations online and in person. At that moment, something clicked. I found my passion.
Two degrees, five internships and two years later, I found the light at the end of the tunnel.
I am now operating under Madison Tinder LLC. A full-time marketing coach who specializes in video strategy to build businesses.
I have a combined audience of almost 10,000 women who I impact on a daily basis. It’s my dream job.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a smooth road. My first obstacle was I wanted to be a sports reporter since I was a child. My SENIOR year of college is when my gut decided to tell me that being a sports reporter wasn’t what I was destined to be. Going to a new college was a struggle because I didn’t know anyone. I left everything behind me to pursue my passion that wasn’t really my passion. On top of that, going through a year’s worth of study and then not even getting a job in the field left me with guilt. But all these obstacles lead me to the best destination.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
My company is Madison Tinder LLC. We specialize in helping female entrepreneurs get more visible in front of their ideal customers through video strategy. I am known for building my business mostly through Instagram Stories and leveraging Instagram Stories to impact women all over the globe. I am most proud of changing the lives of women and helping them become financially free and be their own boss. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic, determination and drive to make sure my business impacts at least one woman per day. From working in a male-dominated sports world, I want women to know what you can do anything you want and you can have it all.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck wasn’t my best friend throughout my long journey to find my passion. I personally think if I would of listened to my intuition a lot sooner, I could be a couple of steps ahead. Once I found my passion, my hard work has gotten me to where I am now. I don’t rely on luck fully anymore. I rely on the dedication inside of me. I know if I work hard and give 150 percent, good will come to me.
