Meet Maggie Kennedy of Copy Plus Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Kennedy.

Maggie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m not your typical graphic designer. Honestly, I just fell into it.

First, I thought I would write short stories… but I needed to make money.
I’ve always been attentive to detail and (kind of) bossy, so I became a project manager.

I was in charge of a group of freelance designers. I became frustrated with subpar work and missed deadlines. So I jumped in, teaching myself programs and tricks to pitch in. I fell in love. Everything clicked.

I’ve never looked back. My background gives me a unique experience – I’m scrappy, resourceful, and honestly thankful for every project that comes my way.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a relatively smooth road paved with word-of-mouth buzz, which has been really great. But I want to scale, so the biggest obstacle at this point is that there’s a lot of work and only one me to go around. I’d like to eventually build up a team to make some cool stuff – but I’m not there (yet).

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Copy Plus Design story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a freelancer that people can count on. With a background in project management, copywriting, and print production, I work to ensure that deadlines happen and projects come out beautifully. I’ve worked with both startups and corporate clients – I’m known for being ultra-responsive, resourceful, scrappy, and talented.

I create beautiful print and digital design within any budget.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Marketing has shifted to emphasize the authentic and honest. People connect to brands that stand for something, and that’s not going away anytime soon. Companies that embrace experiential marketing in a fun, unexpected ways tap into potential connections faster.
