Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika-Grace Pittman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The most interesting part about my background would be that I am a self-taught web developer and graphic designer at age 12. I started my passion for digital media and marketing by designing fan pages for my favorite artists at the time Usher and Deborah Cox. These websites quickly gained popularity among fellow fans, and in return, it solidified my passion for web development and marketing.
I am originally from Southern California and moved to Dallas three years ago due to job relocation. I spent 13 years working for a top automotive manufacturer and held various positions within the organization that fostered my love for marketing and leadership.
Currently, I am a marketing specialist for a global non-profit religious organization. My role includes marketing planning and strategy for conferences and events catered to thousands of attendees, sales, digital sales, and community assistance programs.
In 2012 I launched my full-service creative agency, Draped In Pearls Creative Agency which specializes in Web Development, Marketing Strategy, Social Media Management, Graphic Design, and Branding.
Has it been a smooth road?
My road has not been smooth by a long shot, but today I can honestly say I am thankful for that. I’ve experienced being broken in many aspects of my life, but I’m still here! I almost gave up on my passion a year go, I felt so defeated. After so many “Nos” and closed doors, I nearly threw the towel in. I have an amazing support system with family and friends. Between them and my Faith, I decided to sit down and write out my plan to grow my business, my way!
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I have a huge passion for branding. My company Draped In Pearls Creative Agency specializes in web development, graphic design, marketing (digital and traditional), and coaching. I’ve had clients from business, education, real estate, and ministry.
What’s unique about my business is most of my clientele are minority women entrepreneurs. I think that’s amazing to see so many of our women becoming business owners, and I’m honored to get to help them brand their business.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely. Dallas is full of creatives and moving here has helped me grow my business. I have connected with so many amazing people and have collaborated with other businesses like mine. Dallas has a lot to offer, but my advice is you have to get out there and network with a purpose! I attend meetings, conferences, and even have knocked on the door of local business to pitch my services.
