Meet Manira Camara of Le Vieux Lyon French Bakery Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manira Camara

Hi Manira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Manira Camara. I am originally from Guinea west Africa, I grew up in Lyon France. In 2009 I met my husband, and I joined him to United States of America in 2011. Together we have four children. Fully engaged in my kids education, I was at stay home mom.

For me it was out of the question to leave my children for money, I then wanted to have a source of income that would allow me to be with them full time, hence the idea of having my French bakery from home in 2017 “Delices Sucres French Pastries”.

In 2019 with my husband, we opened our first location “Le Vieux Lyon French Bakery”. We were loved by our community, we build connections.

2022 we moved to a new location, after eight months of struggle.

Since 2018 our couple was going through difficulties. As they say, the whole world can fall on our heads, but if everything is going well at home, the rest doesn’t matter. I then decided to close de bakery and move to Dallas with my kids in May 2024.

I am now working on getting back on my feet.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I lived the worst moments of my life. I was traumatized, without income, without a job. But I had faith, and the desire to fight for my children, in order to show them that resilience is the key to success.

As you know, we’re big fans of Le Vieux Lyon French Bakery Dallas. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Baking is my passion. So I chose to continue in entrepreneurship by creating ‘Le Vieux Lyon French Bakery Dallas’. At first I wanted to call my business ‘Le palais des tartes’, because I wanted to cut all ties with my past. But I remembered that ‘Le Vieux Lyon’ was part of my history.
For the moment I operate from home due to lack of financial means.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Being a believer has blessed my life and my business.
