Meet Marc Moten

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Moten.

Marc, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started for me in my hometown Huntsville TX just me enjoying being in front of the camera. I never imagine that it would all become a reality. Growing up as the youngest out of two sisters and three brothers in an old country town my only goal was to make something out of myself for my family. Being raised by my grandparents and mother I didn’t have that father figure in my life as I had wish so I filled that empty spot in with modeling and other things. Those other things sometimes brought out the worse in me and hindered me from really pursuing my modeling as I had wish. When I thought I was getting better the reality was I was only getting worse. Lucky for me, I had a praying grandmother that never gave up on me or judge me. Her encouraging words, love, and strength is what helped me to come out of those dark places in my life and to make better decisions.

So I took some months off from modeling and enrolled in college. My last year of college I decided that I was ready to start back modeling since I was older and I had a totally different outlook on life, I felt the timing was perfect. A month later, my grandmother passed away with cancer. This was one of the hardest things I had ever experience in my life. As hard as it was all I could hear her saying in my head was keep going your doing great I love you. So I stayed focused and poured my heart and soul into finishing college and pursuing my modeling. If it wasn’t for those long talks, shed tears, and encouraging words to keep going she gave, I don’t know where an old country fella like myself would be today. In life we gotta be thankful for the good and bad for it helped me to become the strong, educated, and loving model I am today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No journey will go as smooth as you’d like and especially when you not sure where that road leads to. Sometimes you have to step out on faith anyway. One of my biggest struggles have been self-critical. Some people struggle with others being judgmental toward them I struggled with me being judgment to myself. This has hindered me from pursuing so many opportunities. Telling myself things such as oh your not good enough or handsome enough to do that. It took me a long time to stop being so hard and judgement to myself cause in the end I am only hurting myself. I still sometimes struggle with it but I have gotten so much better with it.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
With my modeling, I feel that what sets me apart from others is the truth behind the art of the picture. Most people look at shoots taken and say ” oh he sexy he this”. I look at the picture and I see the truth, the struggles, and the tough times that got me to this place in life. One of the things I am most proud of is that I didn’t give up on myself. Even in the hardest times of feeling like I was all alone I kept pushing myself.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Although sometimes we forget to celebrate the big and small moments in our career. I would say one of my most proudest moment of my modeling career was when I was asked to be the cover model for a project by one of my favorite photographers in Houston TX Top-optics Photography. I have worked with some amazing Houston photographers such as Rdot Smith Photography, Pisces310 Photography, and many more but this project was special to me.
