Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Powell.
Mariah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business five years ago after I had my child. I realized how precious each moment in life was because she was growing every second. At that time I was a college newspaper editor and worked part time at a portrait studio in San Angelo. That portrait studio went out of business but my heart wasn’t ready to stop capturing life’s sweet moments, so I went for it. My friends and family became my subjects and from there it was word of mouth, social media and faith that grew my business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe that every journey will have its obstacles and things will not always go as smoothly as planned. I would say that clientele flow can be discouraging at times, but as motivational speaker Les Brown says you have to be hungry and go after the success you have in mind.

Lively Image Photography & Design turns dreams into reality, creating memories that will last a life time. I say that the possibilities are endless -Photographing weddings, newborns, models, artists, graduates, families, fashion shows, parties and more. Lively Image also covers graphic design work such as invitations, logos, album covers and so much more to take the burden off of our clients. I would say that my involvement with each client is what I am most proud of and what sets me apart. I try to be hands on and always available to help with any suggestions or recommendations my client may need, whether it’s make up, wardrobe, event coordinating, they need to know that I am in their corner even before a contract is signed.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to owning a studio, Right now I am mobile with all of my work but I would like a place to call home for my passion. I can imagine the warm feeling now, walking into a building with my canvases on the wall – I don’t think anything will beat that. My time will come.
