Today we’d like to introduce you to Maribel Moore.
Maribel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started doing florals at the age of 16 for Krogers. After 9 years with them, I decided to branch out and do something bigger. I worked in several flower shops and started doing florals for family and friends on the side. After a while of being told I should start my own thing I did. I started posting pictures of my work on Facebook and connecting with other industry people.
In 2012 while in the hospital battling pneumonia, I booked my first true client. It’s been a blessing ever since. I’ve connected with many awesome vendors during my time and built many lasting business relationships. I have been blessed to have been featured in 9 wedding blogs. Being a small business isn’t easy, but I enjoy the challenge!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been peaches and cream. My first year I booked 37 weddings. My 2nd year I booked 42. I realized down the line things had to change. So pricing went up and things began to change. Business slowed down as I learned to say “NO”. I had to learn that not everyone is my client.
I put my heart and soul into every bride and wedding I am a part of. I strive to ensure that every detail even the smallest one is perfect. I believe making sure the client and I are a great match is key. My bookings aren’t what they used to be, but what I do the book is well worth it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bella Fleur Designs – what should we know?
My company is Bella Fleur Designs. We are a fresh floral design company. We offer floral designs for all and every event. From centerpieces to bouquets, and anything that has to do with florals. We make it happen. I’d like to think we are known for giving our couples and clients the wow factor when they book with us. I’m proud of how we have grown and have still stayed humble no matter what.
I can’t really say exactly what sets us apart from others. There are many other awesome florists in Dallas. All I can say is we do our best to ensure everything is perfect. Our clients and couples become friends because we treat them like they are the only ones on earth when we are working with them. And they are every detail is important to me. In 2014 we were voted “Best Wedding Florist in Dallas” by The Dallas A-List. And then again in 2017.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think the most important thing is how my clients or couples are treated. When I’m booked I make myself available 24/7. A bride can call or text me at night and I’ll answer.
