Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Merchant.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Howdy! I was born in Germany, we stayed there until about six months after. Back to the US, New Orleans, Illinois then DFW metroplex since the early 80s. I’ve been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. I got my first art job(s) just out of high school circa 1992. Started tattooing professionally 1994. A little bit about me: Vegan, fitness, wellness, yoga, Krishna consciousness, mantra meditation, cycling (bicycles), husband, father, business owner, full-time tattooer, full-time illustrator, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not! I am my biggest (and only) obstacle… I’m getting smaller and smaller now so it’s much easier to get over myself…

Professional Artist/illustrator, professional tattoo artist. I specialize in art and illustration; I specialize in tattooing. I’m known for art and illustration; I’m known for tattooing. I try to live my life practicing humility at all times so I’m not really proud of much. If anything, I would be a tad embarrassed of some of my choices/moments in life. I don’t think anything sets me apart from others other than my ego, if I do not operate from that space, all I see are similarities and connectedness.
