Mark, founder and CEO, has guided the agency since day one. Through his leadership, the Dallas Business Journal recently listed Agency Creative as a Top 25 Advertising and Marketing Firms.
From the beginning, he recognized that the traditional advertising agency structure was broken. So he set out to create an agency that both respected its clients’ business goals and focused on building a genuine relationship between brands and consumers.
One key component to fulfilling that vision is Agency Creative’s proven branding methodology called COMBUSTION. Blending creative with strategy to produce real results for their clients, the innovative COMBUSTION approach guides each client through an in-depth research and strategic positioning process that aligns the brand with the needs and wants of their customers. They then develop campaign messaging firmly rooted in the brand positioning, followed by campaign development, launch and performance monitoring.
Once in market, Agency Creative’s president and Chief Digital Officer, Mike Scannell, created a unique custom analytic dashboard called RADAR that monitors and measures their clients’ campaign performance. RADAR provides the agency real-time actionable insights and gives client’s real-time access to campaign performance across fully integrated campaigns, including television, outdoor, radio, website, online advertising, social media and more.
The agency also recently hired Executive Creative Director Bart Hirneise to lead the agency’s creative department, reinforcing Agency Creative’s continued commitment to providing world-class creative. The agency said hiring Hirneise adds more digital firepower to its full service suite of offerings to build stronger, more engaging integrated campaigns across the entire media mix.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Certainly not a smooth road. There have been many bumps along the way. The biggest challenge is hiring staff that can align to our philosophy and process. We are very much ingrained with our clients and take emotional ownership of their respective brands. Not all individuals have the work ethic, drive and desire for results as we have for our work and clients. So we are very careful on who we hire. Because a bad hire can really upset our flow since we are such a collaborative agency.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Agency Creative – what should we know?
Our job is very exciting. We get paid to learn about new industries and companies every day. Our job is to look closely at their issues and come up with recommendations to improve them. Our clients love our fresh perspective and it is exciting for us to watch the relationship grow with them as we build their brand.
We are experts at understanding a client’s product or service and then creating a message that resonates with the needs of their customers. The day of just advertising why you should buy a product is gone. In today’s world we have to understand the mindset of humans: with what they like, what they don’t like, and how we can cross paths with them in their daily lives with something that will enhance their life.
Other than our ability to dive deep with our clients to ensure effective messaging, our ability to prove results of our campaign truly sets us apart. Our custom RADAR solution delivers real-time results and empowers our clients with knowledge and actionable insights that no other agency has given them.

Every ad agency I worked at prior to founding my own agency has improved my knowledge and skills.
I am a co-founder of an ad agency CEO group called NAMA – North American Marketing Alliance – https://northama.com/. There are a total of 8 CEOs in this group and we have had a relationship for over 6 years, maybe longer. We have monthly video conferences and an annual summit. The value of having access to seven other ad agency owners has been enormous. We are able to be transparent with each other by addressing everything from staffing, new business, internal systems and processes, and billing to name a few. My confidence of what we are doing as an agency directly comes from the insight I have obtained from this group.
Furthermore, my president and Chief Digital Officer, Mike Scannell, has been an amazing mentor to me. He has an amazing business mind but also brings new perspective thinking to our firm. Plus he helps balance me.
