Meet Markel Logan of TRM Media Group in Downtown Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Markel Logan.

Markel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Where do I begin (laughing) 14 years ago I can recall vividly, my group of friends we called ourselves “ShoeBoxx” we all came from different walks of life, sexual orientation, nationalities and where we wanted to end up in life. One thing that we knew is that we had a story to tell and we were relatable. We wanted to be on TV, have our own show about us in Atlanta. A pilot was filmed, we shopped it and finally received word back from Marc Summers Production that they were interested. Somewhere down the line it just failed through. ShoeBoxx (Myself, Candiss, Khiana, Monique, Nadia, and Steven) decided to just focus on personal careers. In 2011, I was invited to be on the Monique Show which was very interesting. Being a part of that moment lit a fire under me and I wanted again. That same year I decided to move to Dallas, TX and from then on my career took off. Once I was grounded, every year I landed a new show to be a part of. (Big Rich Texas, The Bill Cunningham Show, Cheaters, Texas Flip N’ Move, The Millennials Of Dallas & Chasing Dallas)

In 2018, I joined the Chasing: Reality Brand as a cast member of the Chasing Dallas. Being a part of this brand and show has allowed me to grow as a person and business wise. I previously released two books (Love Ain’t Shit & I Used To Be On My Knees) both books I am proud of but it wasn’t until I released my third book (Inconsistent Hoes). I was able to outsell my previous work by 10x Iit was a bonus that it was number 1 on the Amazon LGBT Drama Plays genre for three weeks.

2019 as I have signed onto do season 2 of Chasing Dallas, I knew that I wanted to create my own lane. Which is how TRM MEDIA GROUP was founded. I want to create content that the everyday person regardless of anyone background can relate to. “Crown” is my first project created under TRM and it’s a short film about how dating in the new millennium is tough. The film was picked up by 2 Film Festivals (Lift Off Global Film Festival & Audience Award LGBTQ Short Festival).

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t really say that I’ve had any obstacles throughout my journey. There was personal challenges family & love life that can either make you or break you. I just remember everything that happened in that particular period of time, rework it and release it to the world. This is exactly how I was able to write my three books.

TRM MEDIA GROUP – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have wear many different hats within my company. I founded, Created, Produce and Film all projects. I have one film director Raymond Ford who has been nothing but a ray of light for me personally & creatively. I come up with an idea and just gives his two cents and I always shut them down because they don’t always make sense or he wants me to fly to the moon and back lol. I take what is being said and go back to what Raymond said and create a vision.

What sets me apart from others is that I truly don’t care about the numbers or money. I Just want to ensure that the message gets across. If you understand what is being put out. Then that’s a win for me.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Releasing three books & Getting selected to be apart of film festivals.
