Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquis Graham.
Hi Marquis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was working in the same barbershop I own now, The previous owner had issues with the guys that were in the shop by the time I came along they went to open their own shop and I was there with some of his family, my clientele starting booming! They had another falling out and I just stayed 10 toes down ended up being in the shop alone eventually, the opportunity to own, the shop came to me. I feel extremely blessed because I never looked for a shop or told myself I was gonna open up a shop. It just kinda happen for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s always ups and downs when it comes to owning a business, that’s very much a part of it that’s how you become successful forks in the road so I’m grateful for those as well
We’ve been impressed with Gee Q’s Barbershop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The shop was named after a good friend of mine I attended Barber school with Ferriel “G”Burns he passed away shortly after we graduated Barber school. I provide services that cater to men special shampoo, tech missions that are females great customer service, professional environment that’s suitable for old women and children. And know for great music in the shop. We’ve been in the same community for 15 years almost everything to do is give back.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The number one thing you could do when you’re inThe Barber world is to be there be dependable be on time be very professional no matter how long you’ve had. The client, being on time is key being professional and providing a professional environment is very critical. Also, my advice was to just stay dedicated . Be available and you’ll build a clientele pretty fast also have a good skill set.
