Today we’d like to introduce you to Marrium Haroon.
Hi Marrium, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Journey in Dentistry
I began my journey in dentistry overseas, where I graduated from dental school before moving to the United States in 2016. Like many immigrants, my early years were filled with challenges and sacrifice. While I worked as a dental assistant to stay connected to my profession, I also took on jobs at Chipotle and JCPenney to make ends meet and support my young family.
In 2017, a new chapter opened when I was selected for a fellowship program at the University of Kentucky, where I trained in periodontics and dental implants. This experience not only sharpened my clinical skills but also fueled my passion for surgical dentistry and life-changing implant procedures. I was then fortunate to match into the prestigious residency program in Periodontics and Implants at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Balancing the intensity of residency with raising my three-year-old son and managing my household was no small feat, but it strengthened my resilience and sense of purpose.
After completing my training, I moved to Texas, drawn by the vibrant dental community and opportunities in Dallas, as well as the support of friends in the area. I began working with corporate dental groups to gain experience, but I always dreamed of building something of my own—a practice where I could focus on what I loved most: restoring smiles and changing lives.
That dream became a reality in June 2023, when I opened my own specialty practice. Now, two years in, my team and I dedicate ourselves to advanced implant dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitations, and All-on-4 procedures. What drives me every day isn’t just the technical side of dentistry—it’s the human side. To give someone back their ability to eat, to smile confidently, and to live with dignity is the most rewarding part of my work.
My journey has been anything but easy, but every challenge prepared me for where I am today. Dentistry, to me, is more than a profession—it’s a calling to transform lives, one patient at a time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles of my journey was being separated from my three-year-old son. When I matched into the residency program in Chicago, he had to stay back in New Jersey with his father and couldn’t move with me. Even though I made frequent trips to see him, being apart from my toddler while going through such a demanding and rigorous program was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. The separation was emotionally draining, but I knew I had to stay focused on the end goal: to complete my specialty training, reunite with my family, and create a better quality of life for us. On top of this, I was supporting myself by working as a student teaching assistant to pay my bills, which made the balance between academic demands, financial responsibilities, and personal sacrifice even more challenging. That vision of a brighter future is what kept me moving forward, even in the most difficult moments.
We’ve been impressed with Pixel Dental , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pixel Dental was built on the belief that dentistry is not just about restoring teeth—it’s about restoring lives. Our focus is highly specialized, with an emphasis on All-on-4 implants, advanced implant surgeries, and bespoke cosmetic restorative crowns. Every treatment plan is crafted with precision, artistry, and compassion, tailored to the individual behind the smile.
What truly distinguishes Pixel Dental is the experience we create for our patients. We operate more like a boutique concierge practice than a traditional dental office. From direct access to me as their doctor to the reassurance of having a dedicated team member available at any time of day, our patients are never left navigating their care alone. They are cared for with the same attention and detail as family.
I take great pride in the quality of our work—the prosthetics we design are natural, lifelike, and seamlessly integrated, so that every smile looks and feels authentic. Beyond implants and cosmetic dentistry, our practice offers the full spectrum of restorative, periodontal, and general dental care, ensuring that every patient receives comprehensive treatment under one roof.
At Pixel Dental, our mission is to blend clinical excellence with an elevated patient experience—helping people eat, smile, and live fully again with confidence and dignity.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Where I See Dentistry Going
When I look at the next five to ten years, I think we’re going to see some really exciting changes in our industry. The demand for implants is only going to grow—people are living longer, they’re more aware of their options, and more patients want a permanent solution that lets them eat, smile, and live fully again.
Technology is moving fast too. Digital dentistry has already changed the way we plan and place implants, but it’s only getting better. With 3D printing, CAD/CAM, and guided surgery, we can be more precise than ever and give patients results that look and feel completely natural.
I also think we’re going to see “smart dentistry” come into play. There are already concepts for implants with sensors that can monitor bone health and inflammation. That means instead of waiting for problems to happen, we’ll be able to catch issues early and be proactive about care.
On the biotech side, there’s a lot of research into ways to actually repair enamel or even regrow teeth using stem cells. That may sound futuristic, but it’s being studied seriously right now. It could change the whole conversation around implants and restorative dentistry in the long run.
That said, no matter how much the technology evolves, I think the real shift is going to be in patient expectations. People don’t just want a procedure—they want an experience. They want to feel cared for, to know their doctor is accessible, and to be treated like a person, not just a case. That’s something I’ve built Pixel Dental around, and I think more practices are going to move toward that boutique, patient-centered model in the years ahead.
At the end of the day, dentistry is about people. The tools and techniques will keep changing, but our mission stays the same: giving patients back their health, their smile, and their confidence.
