Meet Marta of Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marta.

Hi Marta, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story starts with roots, faith, and love.

I come from a bloodline of spiritual healers. My grandfather was a healer too, and even though he passed when I was young, that gift — that light — runs naturally through my blood. It’s something I’ve always felt deep inside me. I’ve always been emotional and deeply connected to people’s energy, to their pain, their hopes, and their hearts.

I was raised Catholic, but I had a calling from the Santa Muerte — something sacred and unexplainable. I realized that with God and the Santa by my side, who could be against us? No one.

That’s when I began my journey. I went out into the world with nothing but faith, candles, and hope. I started going to little community events, sharing light with others — reading people, feeling their energy, helping them heal, and guiding them to see the beauty and positivity within themselves.

People would come to me with their struggles, and I listened. Truly listened. And I found myself telling them, “It’s okay. You’re not alone. We can heal through faith.” That’s when I realized my purpose — to help others heal with love, faith, and the power of spiritual work.

Now, through Botánica La Fe a la Santísima Muerte, I’ve created a sanctuary — a place of peace, where everyone is welcome, without judgment. A place where we can take accountability for our lives, where we can transform pain into strength, and where we can learn to walk in light again.

Because when we have faith — and when we believe in the healing power of love — there is nothing we cannot overcome.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Struggles I’ve Faced – Consejera Josie, Founder of Botánica La Fe a la Santísima Muerte

My journey has been built on faith — only faith. And I say that because it hasn’t been easy at all.

When people see the name Botánica La Fe a la Santísima Muerte, they often judge right away. They see La Santa Muerte and immediately assume it’s something dark or bad. They don’t see the love, the light, or the healing behind it.

For me, that has been one of my biggest struggles. When I tried to rent my first space, so many places closed their doors to me. The moment they saw the name or the image of the Santa Muerte, they said “no.” It broke my heart, because they didn’t even take the time to understand what I was doing — that this was about faith, healing, and helping people.

But one day, I found a small little building — humble, but full of hope. And the owner believed in me. That was almost four years ago, and I’m still in that same little building today. I thank God and the Santa every day for it, because it became a place of peace, light, and love.

Still, the struggle never stops.
When you have a spiritual business, especially one with the name of the Santa Muerte, it’s almost impossible to get loans or funding. Banks don’t understand it. People don’t understand it. Everything I do has been through faith and community support.

Every candle, every flower, every light on this altar is made possible by the people who believe — the ones who come in, who donate, who say a prayer, who give through Cash App ($consejerajosie) or Zelle, or just walk in and offer love. That’s how we keep this place alive — through faith and the kindness of others.

Sometimes I still get judged — every corner, every look. But I remind myself:
With God and the Santa by my side, who can be against us? Nobody.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I do comes from love and faith. Through my work as Consejera Josie, I help people find peace, healing, and hope through the power of God and La Santísima Muerte.
In my botánica, I prepare candles, perform spiritual works, and guide those who are lost or in pain.
My greatest joy is seeing hearts transform — when someone leaves my shop with tears of gratitude, I know my mission is working.
What sets me apart is that everything I do comes from my soul. I don’t just sell spiritual items; I share light, faith, and truth. My purpose is to remind people that love, harmony, and peace begin when we trust in God and the Santa.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would describe myself as a woman of faith, compassion, and resilience. I lead with love and walk by faith, even when life gets difficult. I’m a healer at heart — someone who believes in lifting others up, showing them that it’s okay to start again, and helping them find peace through energy, prayer, and light. Everything I do comes from authenticity and gratitude. I’m proud to stand as a faith warrior, showing that love and light will always overcome fear and judgment.
