Today we’d like to introduce you to Martina Noble.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give our readers a few details about you and your story.
1. I’m a Jewelry Designer and classically trained Goldsmith.
2. I’m from Hamburg, a Northern European port town (think Vikings, trade, ships – minus the pillaging).
3. Germany, France, Italy, East & West Coast: places I have called home, punctuated by stints in Texas – the Lone Star State keeps reeling me back in.
4. When I’m tired, my German accent pops up (shhh).
5. I love the ocean and the vastness of the Texas Plains.
6. I’m an introvert; inspiration comes in quiet moments.
7. Yoga gets me to that quietness. Or daydreaming, Or my camera lens.
8. Mornings: I don’t function before coffee.
9. I like to travel. New Zealand and Africa are on my must-see list.
10. My studio is in an old fire station (and, no, there’s no pole).
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I need more hours in the day or less sleep – but the latter would be a disaster at the bench, haha. (I have branded myself, both embarrassing and painful).
Sketching out ideas, and fabricating them into unique jewelry – that’s my passion. Running a small business also requires managing inventory, bookkeeping, photography, marketing, social media, planning display and packaging, filling orders, shipping, show applications…that’s my lumpy, bumpy, wonderful road.
Please tell us about Martina Noble Fine Jewelry.
As a designer/goldsmith I practice an ancient trade, and one that has meaning – status, belonging, hope, talisman, and celebration – for everyone.
I craft wearable art that sustains time – pieces that become heirlooms. I work with gold, silver, gemstones and found treasures like shells, rocks, bone, to create jewelry that goes with jeans or an LBD.
My style is minimalist, the elegance of simplicity. I chase the essence of an idea, and add little details, often noticed only upon a closer look – like an engraved heart under a clear gemstone.
People choose my work because it evokes a response. My clients and I form a connection – based on beauty and emotion in our more and more hectic world.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In November I have an exhibit “Subliminal Surprises” at Austin College in Sherman. Incorporating jewelry into wall pieces pushes me out of my comfort zone. That challenge is both scary and exhilarating – and how I grow as an artist.
Simultaneously, I’m working on a new line for the fall, and some edgy bridal jewelry. I also have requests for more men’s jewelry.
